What if we got a wide receiver instead of Jonathan Stewart in the 2008 draft

No telling any receiver would have been worth a damn here. But I do know that DWill would have been run into the ground and we would be looking for another running back.

oh and anybody watching Desean Jackson in collage would see he could be at least a #2 guy in the NFL!

and to say dwill would be done in 2 years is very ignorant

don't be a douche i was just pointing out that we got jstew 13th overall pick when we could have gotten Djackson who went as a 43rd overall pick, if this team would try to improve the passing game instead of making us the best running team in the league we would get somewhere. To win football games you need to have a balance of run and pass. A perfect example would be the saints

With John Fox and a run first team.

Stud Running back > Stud Wide Reciever

As long as Fox is running the show, #2 running back is more important than a #2 reciever.

It amazes me that fans dont know how things are ran here.

I'd love to have Desean Jackson too, but with our team and style I would still rather have J-stew.

Plus, Delhomme could handoff better than he could pass. ;)

DeSean Jackson is an excellent playmaker, no doubt. but was it that obvious that he would turn out to be the best WR in the draft? he was the 7th WR taken, and fell into the 2nd round. he is very good, but wouldnt have been AS good in our system.

Philly has basically no run game, they use short passes and screens to alleviate this issue. so its safe to say they are a pass happy team, with a pretty good QB, who can throw the deep ball. we on the other hand are about the exact opposite (last season anyway)

here are the guys drafted before Jackson, none of them are doing much of anything, so who's to say we wouldnt have jumped on one of these guys and had another second round bust at WR on our hands? i will take the beast called stewie anyday.

Donnie Avery

Devin Thomas

Jordy Nelson

James Hardy

Eddie Royal

Jerome Simpson

Desean Jackson

Malcom Kelly

Limas Sweed

i would've taken chris johnson. he could've been a running back and receiver. it's nice to look backwards! that doesn't help anything now though.

No thanks I like having our two Top RBs, and I wouldn't change a thing you are forgetting that we had jake at QB at the time so jackson probably wouldn't have done half the things he did last year. Maybe on special teams but definitely not on offense, we will be addressing the WR spot in this years draft and hopefully we come away with someone who can get the job done on the field!

    • To kick this up, The Athletic has a really comprehensive piece out where pretty much all QB questions are addressed. It is worth seeing.  https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7083539/2026/03/04/starting-quarterback-projections-free-agency-draft/?source=user_shared_article I’m putting something specific here but it should have a thread or something. It is an extensive exercise.  This is a dense write up with a lot of column inches used, about the Jets and Murray and Reich, all this stuff.. then it goes to backup QB and there is Dalton.  I am pasting that part: As for Dalton, Reich is installing the offense he was trying to run in Carolina in 2023 before he got fired, and Dalton was with the Panthers then; he’s an ideal option as a veteran backup to replace Taylor. Reich said this about Dalton in 2023: “The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he handles the operation. … Since day one (when) he walked in the door, I'm like, 'This guy is starter-worthy.' You guys know I've said that all along. He's, in my opinion, one of the best 32 quarterbacks in the world.” ——— That’s true love lol. I never heard any of this. Pretty crazy I think, considering how the year went.   Anyway the dream is not dead. .
    • The Seahawks traded for wide receiver/returner Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline. He proved to be a key acquisition. Shaheed returned a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in the regular season and had a 95-yard kickoff return in the postseason. Shaheed, though, is scheduled for free agency. So, the 12 games he played, including the postseason, might be the extent of his time in Seattle. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Shaheed and the Seahawks are not close to an extension, and the expectation is that the two-time Pro Bowler will hit free agency. Shaheed has 153 receptions for 2,243 yards and 12 touchdowns in his four-year career to go along with three punt return touchdowns and a kickoff return touchdown. He ranks 13th on PFT’s top-100 free agents. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-rashid-shaheed-appears-headed-to-free-agency
