MARDY GILYARD Cincinnati 5-11½ 185 4.56 3-4

Kicked out of school for plagiarism in '06 but persevered, regained his scholarship and started for 2 1/2 years. "Gamer," St. Louis VP Tony Softli said. "Sandlot-type player. Great receiving skills. Catches the ball extremely well. Good route runner. Doesn't have the elite speed but always seems to be fast enough." Finished with 204 receptions for 3,003 yards (14.7) and 25 TDs. "Very good college football player," one scout said. "Slot receiver. He is pretty immature. He's a very combustive type guy. He's just not focused."

DAMIAN WILLIAMS Southern California 6-0½ 194 4.53 3

Fourth-year junior who had 19 receptions as a true freshman at Arkansas before making a messy transfer to the West Coast. "He's probably the safest guy," one scout said. "He's not special, he's not dynamic. He has a good feel for the game and catches the ball. The ones that play for you are reliable. He's not a true No. 1, but he's a No. 2 and you'll be happy with him." Not real fast and has had two shoulder operations. "Smooth and fluid," another scout said. "Really good after the catch for a guy who's not real sudden. Had a really

I have consistently seen Tate listed as the #4 guy. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. I'd be content with any of the top 5 but wouldn't be surprised if we went BPA and ended up taking a LB or DE. I just really don't want a DT...Not with how much we have spent on them in the past few years.

ARMANTI EDWARDS Appalachian State 5-10 190 4.43 4

Four-year starter led the Mountaineers to victory at Michigan in 2007 and the Division I-AA national title. "Oh, man, this guy is lightning," St. Louis VP Tony Softli said. "He's your third quarterback or wildcat. Possibly use him like Seneca Wallace where he can play wide receiver in certain situations. A lot of people are working him out at wide receiver." Went 42-7 as a starter with a passer rating of 102.3. Also scrambled for 4,361 yards and 65 TDs. "He'd be a megastar in Canada as a quarterback," San Diego GM A.J. Smith said. "I think he does everything perfect. He can run like the wind and throw good enough and he's a great athlete."Savage said Pat White's minimal impact with Dolphins might hurt Edwards' draft status. "He made a few throws that The Golden Calf of Bristol couldn't make in a lifetime," one scout said. "Granted, he's 3 or 4 inches shorter and 40 pounds lighter than The Golden Calf of Bristol, but he throws so much better. This guy is a terrific college football player."

DAN LeFEVOUR Central Michigan 6-3 232 4.63 3-4

Second in NCAA annals with 15,853 yards of total offense (2,948 rushing). "I really like his leadership, who he is, and I like his mobility," one scout said. "He's probably a better quarterback than The Golden Calf of Bristol. Put Dan with that group at Florida and he does just as well and maybe better. He's a better game manager. Sees more." Played in high school at Benet Academy (Ill.). Wonderlic of 30. "He looks pretty, but he doesn't throw it very well," another scout said. "He uses a push delivery. The ball doesn't really come out of his hand. Just a guy." Several scouts said the four-year starter made a major mistake by declining to throw at the combine. "He got guys really (expletive) off at him for that," a third scout said. "Here's the problem. He's too mechanical of a thrower. . . . All the great quarterbacks are flexible in their midsection. He does not. That’s why he can’t get velocity on the ball. He will need a delivery makeover." Passer rating of 99.0.

    • Bingo. The dude is a baller no doubt and I'd love to have him in a vacuum but like you said he's gonna fetch a haul so the only teams it really makes sense for are teams with an overall good roster who they feel an edge rusher like Crosby would out them over the top in terms of competing for SBs. I'd be looking st teams like the Pats, Bucs, Ravens, Seahawks, etc. It wouldn't be shocking to see him moved. He may be more valuable to a rebuilding team in the form of the draft assets he'd fetch than he is on the field. He should still have several more good years in the tank at 28 but by the time the Raiders can reasonably expect to rebuild he's gonna be on the decline.
    • Crosby will garner a haul in a trade. I would be reluctant to make that trade because of the following: 1. Our overall roster is awful. We cannot afford to be trading away valuable draft capital. 2. He isn't the best fit(IMO) for the scheme that Evero runs.  I love the player but it would really need to be at a reasonable deal and I think he is likely to garner an unreasonable price if he gets traded.
    • In terms of need, EDGE is currently #1. Our pass rush is near league worst levels. However, I don't subscribe to "need" based drafting. BPA all day.  We do need to dramatically upgrade over Scourton, Jones, Wonnum and Umanmielen. That is likely in the running for the NFL's worst two deep. Not saying all those players are bad, but I am saying 100% of those players are 2nd or 3rd stringers.
