My Mock Version

Round 2

Arrelious Benn WR- Solid reciever that should immediately help us in the passing game and can even contribute on special teams. I chose him over Damian Williams for the fact that he has #1 WR upside. He also is better built for blocking. The thing the scares me about Benn is his inability to consistently catch the ball cleanly and to get into the endzone.

Round 3

Greg Hardy DE- First round talent that has fallen due to injuries and motivational issues. But there is no denying his talent. We could use his pass rushing skills that we desperately need on the DL.

Round 4

Roddrick Muckelroy LB- Good value pick here and we know how Foxy loves LBs. Muckelroy is an underrated LB that can play every spot and is solid in all areas. What I like most about him is that he is a very good blitzer and we might need alot of that this season.

Round 6

Marcus Easley WR- An incredibly raw athlete with big time upside. With Smitty, Jarrett and Benn taking up 3 starting spots. We have time to groom Easely into the tremendous WR he could be.

Round 6

Jevan Snead QB- Another prospect that has all the physical tools to become elite but makes poor decisions. Has an incredible arm and can sit and learn behind Moore. I think with our OL and running game, Snead could flourish.

Round 6

Nate Collins DT- Sleeper DT that surprisingly put up great numbers unnoticed. Should be a good under tackle in our rotation. Plays the run well and wreaks havoc in the backfield. Good pass rusher.

Round 7

Alex Parsons OG- Small versatile lineman that could be a solid backup for us and be able to spot start for a few games in a pinch.

Round 7

Chris Marinelli OT- Another versatile lineman that gives us even more depth. Would like more of a pure LT as he projects as a RT but beggers can't be choosers. I'm sure he could fill in on the left side should Gross get injured again. I'm tired of shuffling our OL and would like to keep Wharton at G.

I could see it ending up something like this. You hit all of our needs. Good job. Only thing I don't think will happen is drafting a DT.. if you had a kicker there, I would say this draft were near perfect.

Well I went DT because i think Collins is underrated and to good to pass up at that spot. I thought about kicker but since we just signed one, I didn't include it.

He's definitely got the tools, but anytime during college he ran up against a challenge he quit. When The Golden Calf of Bristol committed to UF, when Colt won the job at UT, when he had a subpar junior year, each and everytime he quit.

If he can't take college adversity, heaven help him in the NFL.

    • I've shown you numerous comps for other tackles in the same age and talent range.  His contract, taking into account his age, health, etc.  is the going rate.  It's a fair deal. I've shown you examples of how long it usually takes to find even an average replacement.  Hell, look at every tackle that has ever started for the Panthers.  How many would you consider a success?  They are not easy to find. After everything we've done with this team since drafting Bryce why would we decide to let our best linemen go and add a huge question mark at tackle?   FA is a crapshoot in which any guy available will have cons/issues.  If not, they'll cost a fortune.   Outside of a first or maybe 2nd round pic next year it'll take a few years for a tackle to learn the position at the NFL level.  There are still questions about Icky. Every vet NFL player deals with maintenance.  Between the contract value and history I'm not overly worried about his knee.  I contend his knee issue isn't anything to be overly worried about.  It's not zero risk but it's an acceptable risk.  Every player we draft and every contract we sign has risk.  You're blowing up his own negative words about his knees and ignoring him saying he is healthy and the knee is a non issue.  You have a strong chicken little complex with this team.  Being he has always been a Panther they are very aware of any health issues. We paid now because now is cheaper.  If his knee was really an issue they would have waited.  That tells me it's not the issue you want it to be.
    • Sauls getting cut by Steelers if no trade happens.
    • No they are going to give Claudin Cherelus 2 spots.
