RBs really were never devalued like some argue. It's about perspective.

I think there may be some confusing with usage versus investment. Yes the ground game is seeing heavy usage this season but that doesn't mean every team is investing the same. Many teams use mid round picks on the position and keep it moving. Instances like McCaffrey once again being perpetually banged up and his team losing while being the highest paid back in the league are only going to further dictate most teams continue that approach.

The UDFA that carried the load was averaging 5.2 per carry while CMC is 3.5. Mason also has 140 carries and CMC is 43.

49ers still have to pay QB and here they are paying 19,000,000 while a 650,000 UDFA has out rushed him thus far. I bet they wished they never resigned him now.

Again its money- teams can not pay every single spot top dollar. They have decided RBs, Safety, and special teams don't get the big bucks.

    • Ty Simpson and Fernando Mendoza will be way out of reach for us in the draft and Dante Moore and LaNorris Sellers are gonna go back to school so our only hope for a 1st round QB is maybe John Mateer who still could go back to school.  The 2027 draft looks to be a really good QB draft so maybe a surprise Vet QB becomes available like a Trevor Lawarnce. Although his contract is pretty much untradable maybe Liam Cohen wants his pick at QB in 2027, so they chose to bottom out next year and build draft capital. I'm all the way out on Kyler Murray as I am sure this fan base is over the whole undersize QB thing.  Otherwise it looks like we have 3 options. Option 1 is to bring in a floor raising vet like a Kirk Cousins or Mac Jones.  Option 2 is to bring in a younger boom or bust guy like a Will Levis, Malik Willis, Trey Lance, or Sam Howell. Option 3 is to run it back with year 4 Bryce young Regardless of what option we pick I still think our plan will be to pick a QB in the first round of 2027. Canales deserves the chance to pick his own QB as I think he's done a good job getting this team to where they are despite being handcuffed by Bryce's physical limitations.
    • I think we try to trade for Lance or see if we can pry Joe Milton away from the Cowboys.
    • Also we should always be looking to add a QB. Green Bay is a good example. They have always drafted their next guy while their current guy is still good. Its worked out great for them. QBs are hard to find and every season you should look hard at them. The fact that we only look at the QB position when its "needed" is one reason we are always in QB hell. We've had maybe 10 seasons in our entire history when we actually had above average QB play.
