Is Coker WR1?

We have to go best available, regardless of position.  Too many holes to fill but I'm guessing at 4 it's Travis Hunter (who interestingly would help both WR and CB if he can play both).  Position 5 or below it'll be a Defensive Lineman or Edge.

Highly probable he is next year. What's concerning, and I've always had this take is how bad this organization has been at evaluating receivers. We've had 1 all pro for certain at this positon in Steve? Muhammad ik had some pro bowl appearances (ik its a popularity vote). But even the solid receivers we've had never lasted long, or were not consistent. We've acquired solid vet WR's like Keyshawn for brief periods but they're essentially washed. As far as drafting pass catchers we are horrendous.

Moose was first team all pro in 2004 and legit had an incredible season. He was just wasted in Carolina before Jake got there, with the exception of the magical 1998 season.

colbert was all rookie but then Steve smith got healthy and basically bullied him out of the league. I don’t know if smith has ever talked about that directly but he obviously had a lot of anger issues (he’s worked hard on) and he wasn’t going to have another young WR around. Colbert was a quiet guy and he just kinda went into himself.

DJ Moore is a top 11 ish WR in the league I think, but he’s been banished to the negative zone.

Rae carruth was 2nd team all rookie but had some distracting off the field stuff

then there’s a bunch of guys I think could have been productive players in better environments but that’s just me spitballing.

    • Could do better could do worse. I've seen some people very indignant over bringing him back and I can absolutely relate to the sentiment. But it's just in a backup role. He's also a good locker room presence and an effort player so for a 1 year rental in a year where we aren't going to do much it's fine. This is a development year. And there will be options if need be at the trade deadline. Besides at the end of the day we all knew a signing like this was around the corner after how drafting Mark Williams ended. He should have been our franchise center for the next several years. I don’t put that failure on the Hornets.
    • No one is upset.  And what I referred has been happening.   Patrick Mahomes has an offseason basketball clause in his contract.  A ton of other physical activites like jet skiing, baseball and all sorts of physical activities are written into his contract.  XL likely already has ATVs and stuff written into his contact.  League already has been inserting a lot of that stuff into basic contracts for non-top tier players and we have seen it pan out.
    • A payment for future production, puts him a cane for 9 seasons.
