Hall of Fame QB Joe Montana offered an endorsement to the NFL future of ex-Notre Dame QB Jimmy Clausen on Thursday.

Montana, who also played at Notre Dame, told NFL.com that Clausen is well-prepared for the NFL after playing in Charlie Weis' pro-style offense:

"Jimmy comes from a system that's been run in the NFL, so he's been under center and in the shotgun. He has all those things that are intangible. He's a tremendous competitor.

"He came in with a little bit more of an attitude than most people wanted, but if you don't have an attitude, you don't make it in the league. You can't be timid and shy."

Clausen is expected to be taken in the first round. Analysts have projected that he could go as high as the top 10. -- Sean Leahy

Clausen is a douche. A big giant douche, but he has all the tools.

Philip Rivers is an arrogant dick. Dan Marino was well known for being a throbbing hemorrhoided asshole and of course you have the Rape Ape himself, who was hated throughout the Pittsburgh area even before all the recent press. You don't have to be a swell, stand up guy to QB in the NFL.

If Jimmy can put it all together, I will hold my nose and cheer him on to Super Bowls.

I mean, look what nice guy QB's did for us the last couple of years.

No... Leaf was a douche. Clausen seems more like a prick. In fact, now that i think about it. He looks like a young Lars Ulrich who is also a prick. So.. yeah... Prick.

Having said that, if he turns out to be awesome. I'll cheer him as much as I did Jordan (which is to sa a LOT!) Who is a Douchey-cocky-pricky-bastard-topped-with-sheer-assholeness.

So you love him and want to buy his Jersey :D

Seriously, I fell the same way as you.... Only thing is a lot of people feel Jay Cutler could be in that same class, however I've been a fan of his since he entered the NFL.... Weird... wish I could feel like that about Clausen... Funny cause about 10 picks earlier I was wishing him to be picked to the death of his career in Oakland... Crazy How things work out.

I literally watched ND games just to watch him lose and fail...

    • They are the least of Your worries, people on the team want to win.  You have to allow for a winning culture to have an opportunity, if you are the person responsible for creating it.
    • Do you honestly believe this is a team that will even be in contention for a playoff spot this year? To me, if you're not at minimum a genuine contender to make the playoffs, every win you get is a meaningless win in the end.  This is the NFL, it's not peewee league where you just want to win a few games and have fun, you want to get into the playoffs and have a shot at making a SB run. We haven't had a winning season in how many years?   Does "enjoying" a small handful of wins every year really make for an enjoyable season for you? I said it months ago and I'll say it forever, I don't care about winning or losing this year, as we don't have a playoff caliber roster yet and I'm a realist about where we are as a franchise.  I'd enjoy watching the games so much more if the team and Bryce in particular were just showing marked improvement, even if it came in losses.   Because THAT would give me hope for the future of the franchise and the direction we're going. Bryce was complete garbage in Week 1, in Week 2 he was terrible until the Cardinals went into super soft prevent defense and then collapsed gain when the game was in reach, and he was a serviceable game manager today, but didn't make any throws that any college QB couldn't make. This game was a perfect chance to let Bryce go out there and play loose because of the lead, just let him be himself and see if it sparks his college self.  But instead, we went unbelievably conservative with the play calling to help ensure the win, when actual wins and losses are the least of our worries this year, it's figuring out what Bryce can be (fans may be decided, but the team obviously has not yet). I don't want to make the playoffs every few years, I want to contend for SBs. I just don't get anything out of 6-11 type of seasons anymore, they're way more frustrating on the whole to be able to actually enjoy the few wins just because our shitty team got a win for a change.
