Kiper grades the Panthers draft a....

I agree that Hardy, Clausen, and Edwards are big risk big reward, but I'm jumping on the David Gettis bandwagon. Sure he might not even make the team, but for some reason I just have a good feeling about him...... I mean the Panthers are so terrible at drafting highly-touted recievers karma has to compensate them in some way right? David Gettis may not be our Marques Colston..... but we're going to land one very soon I can just feel it.

What I find funny is that everyone is still penalizing us for last year's Brown trade. They discounted the 2008 draft because we traded away a pick, then last year they discounted what we got because we didn't have a first, AND penalized us for trading away this year's first. And now this year they're penalizing us again for not having a first.

If we DID have a first and walked away with the same slate of players, Kiper would have given us an A and gushed about our future stars. I would say he's an idiot, but he gets paid for doing what most of us would do for free.

Great Post I was saying it last year and I'll say it again. Getting a first round pick a year early Which is exactly what Brown was (he was rated 1st round by many) as he did not cost any of last years picks in fact I think we got Goodson as well. 1st Round Picks that you get to pay 2nd round money is smart trading especially when you look at what Godell said today that the NFL will pay about 600 million to this years 1st rounders and maybe half of them won't work out so the league is throwing away 300 million bucks while the Panthers aren't even in that budget grinder. They Keep picking up 1st rounders for 2nd round pay, NICE!

Also it is good for Clausen to fall this far, as it will help chill any stupid arrogance he may still bouncing around in his noodle over unproven ability and replace it with a burning desire to make every other GM in the League cry into his clipboard just like Eric Norwood said for his case.

Also Picking Up solid Quarterback Talent on the Cheap in any Draft is a smart move because this the single most important position in the league . . . even more smart in this talent rich year. If a team has to have that position filled they will be motivated like no other. And what do we do? Load up on Great Quarterback Prospects during this Artificially Front Loaded Talent Rich year. Front Loaded by the fact that many players at all positions declared early this year due to the CBA Collective Bargaining Agreement coming up between Players and Owners after this coming season.

All this Quarterback Talent . . . Chucky must be Salivating over the Panthers Job, I'd rather we had him than Cowher should Fox fall out of Grace.

Next year we may see one of the weakest drafts in years and if things work out right we will have 3 or 4 solid quarterbacks and a nice blend of youth and experience elsewhere.

Finally if the last quarter of the season is any indication Meeks Defense is now in place and hitting on all cylinders. Could we have just seen the beginnings of the Panther's First Multiple Winning Season's Run !?
