Titans RB Johnson absent from first offseason practice because he wants a new contract. Along with the rookie cap, this issue needs to be addressed as well.

I am fully aware of his stats , but he needs to follow through with the deal that he was more than happy to sign.

Maybe coaches need to split up players time to keep their stats down to avoid this situation from continually happening. Money has runied baseball and every year it seems to be effecting the NFL- hence possible lock out next year.

Hey, at least it wasn't a DE for the Panthers playing this stupid little game this year.

ROFL.

Chris Johnson is a douche. I am so glad that he is not on this team. With the amount of carries that he is accumulating I would not be suprised to see his body start to break down in 2-3 years. Once that happens he is done because he is a pure speed guy.

When you have a season like his, you deserve to get paid..

just sayin'

Indeed. I don't know what kind of money he's making but I'm not the kind of guy to automatically assume a player is being greedy because he wants a new contract. Personality aside he's a hell of a player.

Even more of a reason for him to want a new contract now, right?

he made $385k last season. he'll make $560k this season.

obviously his contract isn't laced with any kind of bonuses or incentives.

if he is indeed holding out, he and his agent both have the intelligence of cracked cinder blocks.

deserving of a pay raise or not, there's no way the titans give him some $40-50 million up front signing bonus to get around the 30% rule.

    • I have said if you out even an average QB into the offense we are averaging 25+ points a game. But that will never happen with Bryce under center.
    • The defense is 28 out of 32 in salary cap allocation for 2025. We have a ton of resources tied up in the offense including the highest paid OL in the league multiple 1st round WR's and multiple recent draft picks across the offense at TE and RB and we have two 1000 yard backs. Bryce and company couldn't get past Tyler Shough and his crew in 2 games. That's all there is to it. You can spin it and put the entire onus on the defense to your heart's desire it doesn't change the fact that this is an OFFENSIVE team now. If you want to argue that we should revert back to a defensive identity as we have been in the past which has brought us success then I will agree with you on that. But as it stands the onus is on the offense because that is where we have invested through the nose. Dave Canales and Bryce Young need to do a hell of a lot better than they have against the rebuilding Saints who without us should only have 2 wins this season.
    • Bryce is not trending up. He is the same QB he has always been. Bottom of the league in most categories.  If Canales thinks he can build a contender with Bryce then he is a bigger idiot then I thought.  Offense next year will have the same issues and be just as inconsistent as it was this year.  We have seen Bryce’a ceiling and it is 175 yards a game and that is not a QB you keep around as your starter. That is barely a backup.
