Some more NFC South stats I dug up.

Super Bowl Win = Best team of that season

Multiple Super Bowl Wins - Best franchise

Best team = Most consistent winning team

Everyone knows, that once you hit the playoffs, the outcome is as much a crap shoot as the NFL draft. So actually winning the super bowl is often determined by getting the breaks, steering clear of injuries or some awful officiating (Stellers).

Regardless the OP was making the point that we are the best team since 2002. You can argue that NO are the best team coming into this season, but them, much like TB have actually done little else and often have finished rock bottom of our division.

Carolina has the most wins, the most in division wins and the best %'s across all four teams. We are the most winning-est team of the division and thus, since 2002, we have had the best team. However we have NOT had the best individual team in specific years. Merely we are the best team on average.

So you're saying a 15% better winning percentage means nothing?

We average less than a win more than any team in the division. That makes us all pretty even. The only thing that seperates the bucs and saintsd apart is they have a championship and we dont. That is the only stat that matters. What happens if the falcons win a super bowl next? Are we still the best in the division as long as we maintain our better half a win average? Lol get real!

You need to look at the peaks and troughs of the records. We all have a similar average of wins per season, but all the others have double digit loss seasons, we do not. What that means is the other teams tend to have one or two good seasons surrounded by several poor ones.

You also completely disregard the Panthers have a 60% winning record within the division, which blows the rest out the water.

There are some really poor teams who have won championships, however championships define franchises, not who is the best team over a period...

No I didnt. Look at the numbers. Tampa averages 7 wins per year, the saints, panthers, and falcons average 8. That would 7-8 wins per year. READ!

7-8

7 - 8

7 to 8

I guess you mean anything in 7 to anything in 8, however, what you typed is not equivalent to that. For that to be true, you would have to be including 6.x as well.

You should've stated 7-9.

Anyway, Bob, championships aren't everything, and given the other stats and the age of the Panthers (not many previous chances to win a championship compared to the other teams), they seem to be the best in this division.

When the teams all have a similar win/loss record over that same period then championships play a huge role in determining which team was better over that stretch. Not who had the amount of least double digit losses. The saints have only had one double digit loss over the same period. You mean that's the deciding factor over a super bowl title? Really? The panthers have had several 9 loss seasons over that stretch. Is that really much better than 6-10? As far as division record the saints also gave us two wins in 06 and 09 when they sat their starters as well as the bucs in 07

This argument is retarded, just because our winning percentage since the realignment is slightly higher, that doesn't make us the best team in our division. Ask any Saints fan if they'd trade their super bowl for our slightly higher winning percentage since 2002 and see if they would make that trade.

The entire NFC South since 2002 has been up and down a ton except for Carolina, who have remained pretty average throughout that timeframe.

Being up and down that much (Tampa and NO), as well as being very average (Carolina) is really nothing to be proud of.

However winning a SB in the last 7 years, is something to be proud of.

Best team in the division, every fan would have a different opinion, except for falcons fans.

Take away the championships and it looks a lot more convincing.

Also, to clarify, I do think the Panthers are the better team. Bad teams can win championships, as evidenced by some godly miracle for the Saints.

Yeah they were really bad with their number one offense and number one amount of takeaways and their 13-3 record.

And you can't take away their championships, that's what really counts. That's all anyone ever remembers. Does anyone remember the 2006 Bears? They were 13-3 with an incredible defense and special teams but got blown out in the super bowl by Indy and no one has said a word about that team since. Has anyone talked about the 2003 Panthers? No, the Patriots won that championship.

Well if you take away the steelers 6 championships I guess they're not really that good. LMAO serisouly what kind of dumb fug argument is that? You cant take away championships. They count more than anything else! Would you be willing to make the same argument if the panthers had won the SB in 2003? Yeah take away that SB title and we've been pretty inconsistent.

God I hate threads like this. "LOOK, LOOK! Our stats are better since blah blah when! We done be da bestest! Whooooooooo!" Give me a break. If you need to make this to ward of the jealousy and anger you have for the no good, son of a bitch Saints, go ahead. I don't care what anyone has said, until we win a ring they will ALWAYS have that over us. The Bucs winning doesn't count...that was a fluke.
