Chris Paul

Why have the Bobcats not tried to go after Chris Paul? They showed last year they have the weapons to make it to the playoffs with mediocre PG play. If they added GREAT PG play with the addition of Paul then they would be a serious Eastern Conference contender IMO.

Trade for Paul and add Joe Johnson and this team would contend for the Eastern Conference.

Because it would take more than what we have to get him. There's simply no room for him unless they take Tyson Chandler back, and if he opts out then there's ZERO chance that it happens. We can not offer New Orleans a package worthy of Paul that fits financially, and there's really no reason for them to move Paul.

We're not going to sign Joe Johnson either, we've already got a two-guard and we can't add any significant contracts since we're over the salary cap. Take a good look at the team that the Bobcats currently have because that's pretty much what its gonna look like when the season starts. We may have a different PG, maybe a new center, but there's going to be a lot of carry-over.

They have inquired and are probably still trying. A team official was on Mac attack (WFNZ) and although he couldn't say names he did say he'd take the kid out of Wake Forest over the kid out of Kentucky (Wall) when asked which he'd pick. I can't say word for word or anything but Mac phrased the question in such a way as to allow him (Whitfield) to say, without saying that they have had talks about the kid from Wake Forest.

Larry Brown would make Chris Paul a super-duper star. Just imagine that...

^^^^chris paul was sitting with Jordan during the playoffs at the end of the bench...ehh???

He was, and I have no doubt that we're very interested in bringing Chris Paul home. Doesn't mean its close to being logistically possible though. I'd be VERY shocked to see him in a Bobcats uniform anytime in the near future.

NO had their chance to "build around" Paul and came close but no chips. Does anybody think that he wants to break in a new no name coach and start this re-building all over again? THE only reason Shinn came out and said what he did is because the team is for sale and he doesn't want it's most valuable player to walk just yet.

The guy is a free agent next year anyway. They'd better get what they can now.

Chris Paul doesn't have a choice if he gets traded or not, he's signed to a contract. He has no say in his future. And I don't know where you got the idea that he's a free agent next year, Paul is under contract through '11-'12 with a player option for '12-'13.

The team loses value without Paul...tickets, sponsorships, games on tv, etc. Why would Shinn want to lower the value of the team in the middle of a sale? There is NO chance Paul is dealt, even if he would want to be.

If he comes down with the Tyson Chandler syndrome who knows? :D Where there is smoke there is fire. It probably won't happen but at the same time it's not impossible.

    • So what are "the people" paying for when they give money to a rich dude for a sports ball situation?  The brand and prestige of a sports ball team.  It's the hallmark of a big city to be able to do that.  There is a pretty terrible ROI on public dollars into private enterprise, period.  But governments continue to do it for the image associated with it. Since I live outside of CharMeck, it doesn't affect me much.  I love my Panthers.  They have been part of my life since they announced the team in the early 90s.  My parent's names are on one of those Panther statues.  Some of my best memories with my family and friends come from that stadium.  But on the flip side, could CMS use the $650 million?  What about public housing?  Streets?  Parks & Rec?  There are a lot of other places that $650 million could go. But in our modern society, I bet that after much hemming and hawing, the money will come.  Areas of the budget will suffer.  Some taxes will increase, but that's how things work in our society.  Charlotte is not willing to lose the Panthers.
