Enough with the Jake threads already!

Yeah he sucked ass but wouldn't you hate to see Jake go out like this after all the good he has done for this franchise? Don't get me wrong I want another qb starting next year but if anything we need a Jake appreciation thread...Im pissed just like everybody else but give the man a break, he played the worst game of his career but he had a pretty good season coming off surgery..I say lets keep Jake but only as a backup. If you are a true Panthers fan how could you not respect what Jake has done and how he got to this point?

I look at it this way, if the 49ers can dump Montana. Then anybody can be dumped.

True but I can see the fans running jake out of town and I would hate to see that...the man has put his heart and soul into this franchise and it would suck for his last game as a panther to be a 6 turnover playoff game.

Someone once asked me the average length of a pro football player's career.

My answer: "One year too long" :(

I have loads of respect for Delhomme, I appreciate everything he's done here, and I'd agree that some of the threads about him are out of line, ridiculous or just plain stupid.

With that said, there comes a time in every NFL player's career when it's time to hang it up. We all knew that day would come for Jake at some point, though no one really saw it coming this season.

I can't say definitively, but I think there's a strong possibility that day is here.

I'll be sad when Jake retires. Equally sad someday when Steve Smith retires, and (hopefully) further down when the time comes for DeAngelo Williams to walk into the sunset.

Regardless, no one can stop those days from arriving.

Very true and after looking at Jakes press conference, I think he knows that it has finally come to an end...but it was an amazing journey.

Jackson isn't leaving Minn, try again.

Preeeety sure he was using Jackson as an example. So that means, if I say that my Golden Retriever could've put up the same performance as Jake tonight, it doesn't actually mean I want us to sign my dog.

    • Here's a concept for you that I would like to recommend. When a player does well you compliment them. When a player plays poorly you call it like it is. That's generally my approach. These are men not schoolchildren. At the same time. Either we have standards for the whole roster or we have no standards at all speaking as a fan of a team that hasn't seen a winning sesson in going on soon to be 8 consecutive years. So let me stop you there for a moment. You are arguing it was dumb to correctly describe Sam Darnold as the flawed albeit physically talented QB he was here years ago? You're really dying on that hill huh? You must be rooting pretty hard for his comeback tour with the Seahawks. I think thou doth protest too much in general. As if you are not online as much as the rest of the majority of the population. You're just too cool for the rest of us aren't you Joe Bear? stewie griffin and colin farrell.mp4
    • I’ll take it. Been foregoing responses because you already covered what needed to be said for years. Keep pounding man.
    • He played a lot better as the game went on but Miami also started softening up on D thinking they had it won. He was awful through the first three quarters.
