Dental insurance waiting period?

technically, there's no such thing as dental insurance.. you get a checkup every 6 months with a copay.. everything else is a discount. I donno if you get it through work or individual/family, but if it's the latter, go get yourself a discount dental plan..

and yes, there are elimination periods with dental insurance.. typically there is a 2 year waiting period on anything major... which is one of many reasons to just get a discount plan.

and since this topic is here, let's me say this: people let this thread be an example of rethinking your health insurance needs altogether... the typical copay plan is a ripoff if you get down to the numbers.. I know you may think you sleep better at night, but it's a false security if we actually were to sit down and chat it would take 2 minutes for me to show you how your getting &*## in the #*&... :)

getting health insurance through your company has spoiled our country.. and as much as you may hate it, if you haven't found out why, you're not far away...

questions like "but I used to pay this" kill me because your employer pays 30X what you pay.. and to expect your employer to do that is ludicrous in this economy.. well, at all.. unless it's a multi-million dollar company.. lol

I just got a root canal and teeth cleaned. Total $1,200. I paid $0. Insurance covered 100%.

is this group insurance supplied by your employer? has to be.. which is what I already explained up above..

if it's an individual/family dental plan.. you won't come out playing only $0.. and you won't have anything done the 1st two years of that policy..

if you got it through your employer.. you have what most people do not... and health insurance premiums are outrageous for your employer.. people are going to have to come to terms that most companies just cannot afford $50,000/year to supply you all with health insurance anymore.. ($50,000 is on a smaller scale)

at least when employers step outside the box and realize there is a better solution already in existence for their company.. the group plan is out of date and inefficient, as far as the business aspect of it goes..

work for SAS or any huge company and you can argue saying your entitled to health coverage.. but not everyone works for a huge company like that...
