Delhomme Theory

First off, I haven't read all one million post about jake since saturday, so if this is a repeat of someone's idea, I apologize.

Anyways, Jake's best years were 03-05 in which he went to the pro bowl in 05. Then he began to slack off after the nfc championship game against the seahawks. Even when everyone thought he had a "great" second receiver in keyshawn, he did not have a great year.

Since 05, he has been an average QB, with the exception of the beginning of the 07 season. In his first three games that year, before his surgery, he was off to his best start as a QB yet. Why do you think he was playing his best? Because he had pressure. Carr was brought in "just in case" Jake started to screw up, so he knew he couldn't make the mistakes that everyone let slide during the 06 season. He did not have any pressure this year with McCown and Moore waiting, so yet again, he was a mediocre QB.

So maybe this offseason we should keep Jake, after renegotiating his contract, but bring in another QB to pressure Jake and hopefully make him perform as well as he did at the beginning of last season before he elbow went out. It could be through the draft or free agency, but someone who would rattle jake and let him know that he can't f*ck up this year.

I think Delhomme's career in Carolina is going to be wrapped up here sooner or later. I've always supported the guy and he has done us well in certain situations and in others, not so much. Within the next season or two, our best interest is to get a new quarterback. We should possibly trade a descent player or so to get a good draft selection for QB.

    • there is one common denominator in the 2003 & 2015 Carolina Panthers teams they both had ELITE top tier Qb play.  it would require a MVP type of season from Bryce Young to have the same type of success that Jake Delhomme had in  2003 & or Cam Newton in 2015 & lead this team to a SuperBowl is this going to happen or is there any reason to believe Bryce Young is capable of playing similar to Jake Delhomme in 2003 or Cam Newton in 2015 ? well no there is no absolutely NO reason whatsoever to believe that this is going to happen in 2026 ..just saying
    • I'd actually like to see Cherelus get a fair shot to win the job in camp. Wallace is decent in drop zone coverage, but he gets abused in the play action game and is often times out of position in the run game. It might just be me, but I swear every time I watch Wallace play, I see multiple plays a game were it looks like he's just trying to be blocked. Watching Cherelus last year he at least looked like he was trying to hit someone on every play. Wallace plays like a LB who doesn't trust what he sees and it makes him passive and cautious versus Cherelus who regardless of if his decision is right or wrong goes at it 100%.
    • Agreed.  Hasn’t happened to me either, but I feel very strongly about it.  That’s not just one of the worst things a woman could do to a man, it’s a power inherent to only women and is one of the worst things a HUMAN being can do to another.  A man can’t “hide” a pregnancy or maternity.  It’s impossible.  And that sucks for anyone that has to go through that. I always got a weird vibe off her and just found her very unlikeable.  Annoying even.  I’ve always been good at reading people and there was just something about her to me that was off-putting, somewhere under the surface.  And here we are…  she is despicable.
