Searching for jobs while employed

That's actually my semi-long term goal - take 6-9 month contracts then take months off at a time until I find a project I really like(and get paid well to stay on). But that seems pretty dangerous in this economy even if the job market for devs is picking back up. There's also the insurance, 401K, etc stuff.

Alright, this is the last time I'm resurrecting this thread. Since I updated my dice.com status I've been getting blown up by recruiters. When I was out of work I'd get contacted maybe once a week, now I'm getting 2-3 calls/emails a day. I was leaning on sticking with my current job for a while but now I feel like I'd be doing myself a disservice by not looking into these other jobs.

Careful who you are talking to though. Some of them are full of poo.

Accrue Partners is really good.

Sherpa is good.

Some of them suck. When I was at Wachovia, there was one who didn't fully disclose it (b/c its illegal I'm pretty sure), but they only got jobs and gave interviews to women. A little ridiculous if you ask me.

Just make sure you talk to them and they sound legit before you send them any of your information.

On the other hand, I am dipping out of work on Friday for an interview. Wahoo!
