Why not Armanti Edwards at QB?

It amuses me that after watching 5 games of fumbles, dropped passes, missed blocks, false starts, lack of receiver separation, blown routes, lucky tips, etc. etc. that some Carolina fans apparently conclude that our problems on offense are due to poor Quarterback play.

Sure, Clausen had a few bad snaps, one in the rain. Sure, Moore threw several picks when trying to force a pass play through a good defense backfield.

The running game has been spotty, and the play calling has been obvious. Our tight ends, which happen to be our most experienced/proven receivers, are totally underutilized. Our O-line is not getting it done.

Finally, if Armanti showed the right kind of promise in practice then Tony Pike wouldn't even be on the roster........but he is.

How can you possibly blame it on the o-line. Can you do math? 8-9 Defensive Rushers ----- 5 offensive lineman.... what do you think is gonna happen... The o line has no chance until the qbs and wrs can prove they can burn defenses for stacking the line.

from draftnasty.com:

"Q. At the NFL Combine, you were recovering from a strained hamstring but still decided to participate, only doing the passing drills. How did it go at your Pro Day?

A. I was told that I had another strong workout at quarterback, showing them that I could play quarterback in the NFL. I also ran plays at other positions, showing them I could do that, too. I did all the drills this time and heard a lot of good things about it.

Q. After your Pro Day, your college head coach, Appalachian State's Jerry Moore, was insistent that you are an NFL quarterback. Moore told the Charlotte Observer, "I think he's a quarterback ... I don't think there's any question about it." How do you feel about that statement?

A. (Moore) has always felt that way, and I don't see it changing now.

Q. After another endorsement from Moore and another stellar performance in front of 10 NFL teams at your Pro Day, have you decided that you only want to play quarterback in the NFL?

A. I'm not stupid. Yes, I want to play quarterback in the NFL. But if it doesn't work out, I'll play another position. I'll play wherever they need me in the NFL.

Q. Unlike the NFL Combine, you got to run at your Pro Day. You were clocked by stopwatches as low as 4.43 seconds in the 40-yard dash. How's the hamstring?

A. It's 100 percent. It may be stronger than it was before I injured it. It felt great out there, running around.

Q. It's no secret that your hometown team, the Carolina Panthers, are very interested in you. They flew you in for a private workout. How did that go?

A. Coach (John Fox) wasn't there because he had to be somewhere else. I talked to him at the NFL Combine though. At the workout, it was the offensive coordinator, a few assistants, and the GM. I caught punts and kickoffs, and did more work at wide receiver. They wanted to study me at other positions, and they said I had a good workout.

Q. How did you feel about the fact that the Panthers didn't work you out at quarterback?

A. Well, they had one of their scouts at my Pro Day, and they saw me throw at the NFL Combine. I guess they have seen enough of me at quarterback. After my (private workout), they didn't really say where they liked me the most. They said they are still 50-50 on quarterback or wide receiver.

Q. I bet a lot of your friends are excited that the Panthers are giving you some love?

A. Yes, sir. There are a lot of Panther fans at Appalachian State (in Boone, N.C.), and in my hometown (Greenwood, S.C.). They would love to see me play for Carolina. I didn't really follow them much growing up, but I wouldn't mind playing for them. They are close to home."

What is he gonna say??

Q. At the NFL Combine, you were recovering from a strained hamstring but still decided to participate, only doing the passing drills. How did it go at your Pro Day?

A. I sucked, I should not be an NFL QB.

Q. After your Pro Day, your college head coach, Appalachian State's Jerry Moore, was insistent that you are an NFL quarterback. Moore told the Charlotte Observer, "I think he's a quarterback ... I don't think there's any question about it." How do you feel about that statement?

A. (Moore) just want's to help recruiting at app state.

Moore's quote must have worked.

So far in 5 games this season the guy App replaced AE with (Deandre Presley) has completed 79 of 118 passes (67%) for 1,100 yards. 10 TD's passing with 0 int's. He has an average QB rating of 165. He's rushed the ball 71 times for 450 yards (6.3 yards per carry) with 7 rushing TD's.

The guy behind him looks to be every bit as good. Saturdays are good for us hillbillies.

Looking at the interviews with Fox lately and the way the crowd reacted to Armanti's presence at the QB wildcat........He will def see a lot more reps at QB this next game.....Clausen or Moore will start....doesn't really matter which.......they'll be down by 14 or 17.......10: left in the first half Fox will put him in and catch back up 21-17 at the half and then they'll put Moore or Clausen back in for the second half and they'll stay in if the defence plays lights out for the second half.........final score 21-17 if its done this way........

I say give him a shot...

He is a very exciting player and we will never know whether he can play QB or not if we never give him a chance. This would be the time to give a chance since he can't do any worse than Jimmy/Matt.

Also from a business standpoint, he is already a fan-fav type of guy so it may bring a few more people to the games since we suck right now.

And size doesn't matter. As somebody said, Jimmy can't throw over the line and he's 6'3. Also, he can scramble similar to Vick and that could give us at least a couple more 1st downs each game.

Last thing about how he can;t throw down field. First of all...we don't really know how well he can throw, and 2nd, Jimmy and Matt didn't do a great job of it either. We just need a dynamic player at this point to bring the team some offense.

At this point I really wish we had NEVER picked Armanti Edwards!!

All these App fans can't understand "WHY" he was picked.

***NEWS FLASH*** IT WAS NOT TO PLAY QB! So STFU!!!

Who cares what he was drafted as. Im not a App fan at all....now way shape or form....but I dont see why we can't give him a shot. Some of you need to come out of your box a little bit and realize that you might not be right about everything. Im not saying Armanti will do well at QB...but I don't see why we can;t give him a chance on the worst team in the league, to see if he can play.
