Taking plays off...who does and who doesn't?

All I really have to say on this subject is, if Peppers want's to take a play off, then he needs to go sit on the sideline for a play or two. We have an up and coming star in Charles Johnson that can take his place for a couple of plays. It is not worth him staying in the game on 3rd and 20, and getting no pressure whatsoever because he is tired, and leaving the play up to the secondary, because we all know how that goes.

So why are you arguing? For the sake of making a thread and being an asshole to everyone that disagrees with you?

This thread should be closed.

I did provide evidence for my opinions. I was merely stating there in that paragraph that you've quoted, that HURRIES aren't an official stat and CAN'T be used as basis for factual arguments.

Again, I'll ask the question and let's see if you can stay on track for a minute. You say Peppers is lazy and takes plays off, now I want you to name me someone that doesn't and we'll go from there.

How many games can you look back at and say definitively "we lost this game because of Julius Peppers"?

when the giants were running draws right at him in the 4th quarter and he was watching the back go by.

but fine, if you want to justify a player's worth by "well he didn't LOSE us any games" go right ahead.

basically his point has been exposed and he's retreating into that "hey man it's my opinion you have yours you can't prove me wrong" excuse

My point hasn't been exposed. My original question hasn't even been answered. In fact, I disputed your last points, and you have been shown the door. Good day sir.

Can you not fathom that there may be a Panthers fan that isn't in love with this guy, before or after his statements from Friday? I dislike Peppers for the same reason that I dislike Randy Moss; he is a player with immense talent and fantastic stats that is too lazy to reach his full potential. Are we so willing to excuse Peppers for taking plays off when people like Smith and Williams have had to overcome physical disadvantages in order to become some of the best in their field? Should we throw principles out the door if it means holding on to an indifferent defensive giant that gives us massive credit at the defensive line?

Many players in the NFL deserve praise and laudatory remarks thrown in their direction. I don't need to make a list. But Peppers is not one of them. He is a football cultural icon that has riden too long on his numbers and his popularity. I want him gone, and I never want him back. I don't care if he breaks out in tears on ESPN and takes everything back about wanting to leave. I also don't expect anyone to support me here, which is why I'm so bitter. Seeing characters like this be given free passes year in and year out because they produce sacks infuriates me.

Of course, I didn't have any stats in this post showing how lazy Peppers is, so it's motherhumping useless for me to keep posting in this thread. I hope Peppers stays just so that you all have someone to cheer for on the defense for another year. Lord knows Beason, Harris, and Davis haven't done a thing to earn our respect. After all, they didn't play basketball at UNC or get 14.5 sacks despite being constantly double teams, held, or whatever.

Keep pounding, JPep. I hope you prove me wrong wherever the hell you're going next season.

so.... in other words your mad at he just because...

also how do YOU know his potential?

Oh yes, the second half, where our two starting DT's were out. Yea that had nothing to do with it.

Hey it is Fox's style not mine, you play to not lose the game.

Not my philosophy.

Early in his career Peppers would completely take over games, sure he doesn't do that anymore, then again our defense sucks ass now too.

He isn't working with much, and still produces, 60% of the time or not.

It's probably easier to NOT take plays off on the field if your NOT on the field all game.

Our offense has historically been garbage, the second half of the season this year is the best it's ever been.(arguably)

Our defense historically has been on the field most of the game, poo I don't blame him for getting rest wherever he can.

they ran draws at the de, that weird i thought draws usually go up the middle. what happened to our lbs? where they not there or was julius supposed to push the whole offensive line out of the way, grab the rb and take the ball from him, throw him into the stands and run it back for a td, all while texting on his new blackberry?

I have seen games where Smitty couldn't get open and caught very few passes and how 0 touchdowns. Then I've seen games where Smitty busted out and caught 10 balls for multiple TD's. I have also seen Smitty give up on balls that were clearly thrown over his head. I have seen Smitty miss blocks on running plays to his side. Are these plays that Smitty has taken off? I don't think so. But apparently you do. If you don't, then why don't you consider those instances taking plays off?

Also why are we arguing about Peppers taking plays off, because most likely he will not be with the Panthers organization next year, and Big Brenston Buckner has already told us that Peppers takes plays off and that he is lazy. As a matter of fact BRENSTON BUCKNER played for the panthers. So as far as I am concerned Peppers is just lazy potential.

Oh stankowalski have you played for the Panthers???

I don't think so

BRENSTON BUCKNER knows what he is talking about.
