Luckiest Coach

And you said that JR is cheap and never spends money on players. So I said show me where there's a calculable correlation between team payroll and wins/losses. You've yet to show me those numbers. You're making baseless claims and purporting them as fact.

Unless you're willing to actually put some effort into your posts, I suggest you stop before you're eaten alive. I can count 3 useless threads made today alone.

And the fact of the matter is 7-9 doesn't get it done in this league.

Can you not read? Richard can pull up the numbers, but this is not about numbers,

This year and he looked like a brilliant QB for the Giant's that first game. I thought Eli would get traded since he completed all those passes to Giant players.

He started 2 games then was benched. That isn't a change to take a team to the playoffs.

So you think after those two games he was capable to take us to the playoffs? The only point i've been trying to make is that if Fox had a good QB he would still be our coach going forward.

I have no clue if he wouldv'e gotten us there. My point is he has never been given a chance. Two games isn't a chance.

To pull him after two games like they did for a rookie QB, with barely any snaps, tells me they have no faith in him as the leader of our team. They spend everyday of every week with these players and for them to do that shows they are not sure he can lead us.

You are not seeing the point. You said show you a team with Matt Moore that made the playoffs. I said Moore has not been given a shot. If the coaches don't believe in him that's fine. That doesn't change that fact that he hasn't been given a shot to take a team to the playoffs.

The thread is about Fox leaving. The point that we got into somehow is that if Fox had a good QB his entire tenure, he would still be our coach. Put a QB on our team who averaged in the top ten in QB rating for Fox''s entire tenure and we may have been a playoff team every season. We are going to lose Fox, I know this, but we will be lucky to get a coach as solid as he has been. Jerry will not bring in a big name proven coach , it will be some coordinator, and that will put us bad for another 3 or 4 years

    • I read that Pittsburgh is a possibility.  I think of college QB studs who had some form of mental quirk yet tons of talent--but their issue made being a team leader difficult and it led to their demise--going back:  Jamarcus Russell, Art Schlichter, Jeff George, etc. I think people forget that the QB must not only have talent, but they must lead.
    • I wish I knew more details, but the NIL money to 20-year olds combined with easy access to gambling sites is a side effect that these kids may not have considered.  To your point,A famous 2009 Sports Illustrated article titled “How (and Why) Athletes Go Broke” estimated that 78% of retired NFL players go bankrupt or face significant financial stress within two years of leaving the league.  I am guessing that ego and $$$ and the thrill of competition (most pro athletes love competition because they are the winners) makes it a powerful temptation.  Throw in the ease of gambling on your phone which is always in your hand, and I see your point x 10.
    • Freeling got some reps at RT when they gave Moton a rest day--I sorta hope Freeling gets brought along slowly as you describe.  It would be better for him for reasons you provide.  We have a really good problem.
