Brandon's Positively Pointless Power Rankings Week 15

1. Titans

For the Titans it's business as usual, winning games on the ground and doing so with a stifling defense on the other side of the ball. While the Titans may not have much to play for other than bragging rights at this point, they are still playing hard and in December that is what matters most.

2. Giants

The Giants had arguably their worst game of the season and it couldn't have come at a worse time. With 3 potential playoff teams coming up and the injuries mounting, the Giants can't afford to lose any momentum heading into the playoffs. If the Giants can't get their focus back, it won't bode well.

3. Panthers

Not content with setting a rushing record last week, the Panthers set yet another after both DeAngelo WIlliams and Jonathan Stewart put up over 100yds, 2tds and 7.0ypc each. More startling is the fact that the Panthers did this against a defense which only allowed one rushing touchdown at all before last night. For those wondering, yes they are for real.

4. Steelers

The Steelers have a lot to be happy about with the performance of the defense, but questions about the offense are starting to arise. The offensive line has struggled in a big way over the past month and it was very evident against the Cowboys. However, as long as the defense continues playing this well, not many will stand in their way.

5. Colts

In an almost eerily quiet fashion the Colts rebounded from a very poor 3-4 start and posted up 6 consecutive wins, and doing so in just about every manner possible. While the running game never got going against the Bengals, it didn't need to as Peyton Manning put up a very Peyton Manning performance.

6. Buccaneers

The vaunted Buccaneers defense played at a level previously unseen for them so far this season. Unfortunately they were on the bad end of a 301 yd performance from Carolina's running duo. They will have to put this game behind them quickly as the Atlanta game this week has suddenly turned into a must-win situation.

7. Cardinals

The Cardinals have a lot to be proud of, not in the least is winning their first division title in 33 years, but also the incredible performance of Kurt Warner and the Cardinals' receiving corps this season. The Cardinals have only one obstacle remaining, and that is trying to find a way to win on the East Coast.

8. Falcons

Despite another good performance from Matt Ryan, the Falcons' defense didn't have much of an answer for Pierre Thomas who ran seemingly at will. Not all is lost, however, Atlanta is still 8-5 and very capable of capturing a wild card spot but it won't be easy, with Tampa coming to town after a humiliating performance.

9. Ravens

The Ravens' defense took every advantage of the Redskins' offensive inconsistencies of late and rolled to an easy win. While Joe Flacco didn't have much through the air, it never materialized into an issue. The schedule shows a tough road ahead with Baltimore hosting Pittsburgh in a game which will feature two of the league's best defenses.

10. Patriots

In a victory that could only be described as ugly, the Patriots found themselves very lucky not to leave Seattle with a loss. While the return of Wes Welker was good news for New England fans, two important defensive starters in Vince Wilfork and James Sanders were forced to leave the game with injury.

11. Cowboys

The Cowboys have a terrible history in December over the past 10 years and against the Steelers it was no different. After going up 13-3 in the third, the entire team collapsed giving up a score on both sides of the ball and proving to everyone why it was a bit early to say the Cowboys were back.

12. Vikings

Scary. While the Lions have been giving teams scares early on in games throughout the season, the Vikings almost gave them their first win. Oddly enough it was Travaris Jackson stepping in for an injured Gus Ferotte which proved to help turn the game around for the playoff hopeful Vikings.

13. Eagles

Brian Westbrook proved what happens when teams don't gameplan around him, and in the process helped save the Eagles' season. Meanwhile the defense deserves a fair amount of credit, holding a very good Giants offense to only 123yds passing and 88yds rushing. There was no better time for the Eagles to come up with their first division win on the season.

14. Broncos

The Broncos are expected their water boy to running back this week, after losing Peyton Hillis for an indefinite amount of time to a hamstring injury. Still the Broncos managed a comeback win in a game which probably shouldn't have required it, and that does not look promising as they head into Carolina.

15. Dolphins

Somehow, the Dolphins find themselves sitting at 8-5 in a three way tie for first place in the AFC East. To top it off they have one of the easiest remaining schedules in the NFL paired with a team very easily capable of winning all three remaining games. This is not good news for the Patriots or Jets with whom they are tied.

16. Jets

17. Bears

18. Saints

19. Texans

20. Chargers

21. 49ers

22. Redskins

23. Packers

24. Jaguars

25. Bills

26. Seahawks

27. Browns

28. Chiefs

29. Raiders

30. Rams

31. Bengals

32. Lions

I am sure after we beat Denver this week we will still be seeded in the top 10, alot of scouts and reporters do not give credit where credit is due. Carolina should be a 1 or 2 seed, I mean yeah we lost some games but to good teams, teams that all can be in playoffs right now. New York? Lost to teams that are basically out of playoff contention and Tenn lost to a team that has a losing record since their conception... if that doesn't do anything for us i do not know what will....We get no respect

you made it sound like the titans won but they had probably their worst game of the year.

and they lost haynesworth who is having an MRI done. they lose him and their biggest strength is gone. don't think they should be at #1. i don't know who should but it shouldn't be them.

it's going to be really interesting to see who shows up in other power rankings at 1. i have seen some early comments from people about pitt and carolina.

i agree for the most part - just realize the dallas bias goes both ways. I think if we were 9-5 fresh off a victory of the reigning superbowl champs and we got ranked 11th there would be a whole lotta bitchin on this forum. But, I hate the cowboys so I won't lose any sleep on it.

This was my power rankings from last week. The Cowboys are most certainly moving up.

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
