Edwards to be active next week...?

the problem is this:

we know he is inferior to what we have at receiver.

we don't know if he is any better at QB, but the likelihood he is... well, it's small.

so if we draw up a huge game plan for him and he just isn't that good... bad stuff happens.

this is why you have to work him into the offense slowly... we'll see if it actually happens this week though.

bad stuff like what? Losing? who gives a poo at this point

Is AE the only Panther qb to beat a top 25 team in college? And he's a wide reciever?

Nope, Tony Pike has five times as many top 25 wins as AE. That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing AE take some snaps at QB in a rotation.

With our rb injuries as it is, the Panthers need a mobile qb to at least run the clock a little. I'd hate for Tampa to put up 30 in the first half on us...

I imagine that Armanti Edwards is the only one of the four to beat a Top 5 team. One shot at doing it and he did it.

Pike did very well yest. but I think we should at least see what AE can do with the ball, what is it going to hurt. Who knows we might find our man...

Pike did do well compared to Clausen's 28.5% QB rating. At least his QB rating was up in the 50's.

Starting AE at QB this week or any week soon is completely insane.

Not saying he can't play. I'm not even saying he isn't the best QB on the roster.

I'm saying they gave him a playbook and said, learn to be a WR. The guy may be the best thing since Steve Young at QB - arm and wheels - but he hasn't been practicing in that capacity and doesn't know job.

Give him a several weeks to practice at the QB spot and learn what that role is in our current system then consider it. Until then, think nothing of what he did in the past and remember he is a WR in training.

How many reps at QB would you say he has had since OTA's?

How often do you think he sits in on the QB meetings, and watching film with them?

Now what I am ready for are these special packages that he was drafted to run. If we want to get tricky, lets get him in the game some with those packages.

You know something....WE NEED A LITTLE INSANE right now!

Holly hocks, if right now, with this team, is not a reason to change up to down and down to up, night to day, day to night, black to white, winter to summer, old to new.........then when would be the time?

Hell, put Armanti Edwards in with the defense playing offense. Could NOT possibly be any worse showing than yesterday!

Sure, our fantastic coaching staff has ignored Armanti at QB preperation this year, but even so, he could not do any worse than what we are seeing now, and he would only get better and better.

    • All true, Stafford and Mccvay were both talking about "retiring" during those future picks too, I member. In my computer when you make future trade, I feel you have to factor in the worst case or close to it from your side. The big issue for the panthers, maybe even now is that they have not proven they can draft well enough to trade. I know that Dan and company have not traded future picks and they seem to always want 7-8 picks overall. They like to trade 3 picks for 3 picks or 2 for 2.   It would have been great to flip BB for that haul and use those Rams picks instead of the first overall pick...... Verse wise, Jesus what a beast....... Garrett is the top dawg and all, but man this is rough for me. I also noticed this about the panthers they are pedo bears, they like dem young. So a 25 year old verse would have gotten gigged with the panthers. Even with NIL and 6th year, and even coofus fallback, panthers prefer younger players. Monroe Freeling (Round 1, Pick 19 | OT, Georgia): 21 years old Lee Hunter (Round 2, Pick 49 | DT, Texas Tech): 22 years old (estimated) Chris Brazzell II (Round 3, Pick 83 | WR, Tennessee): 22 years old Will Lee III (Round 4, Pick 129 | CB, Texas A&M): 21-22 years old (estimated) Sam Hecht (Round 5, Pick 144 | C, Kansas State): 21-22 years old (estimated) Zakee Wheatley (Round 5, Pick 151 | S, Penn State): 22 years old (estimated) Jackson Kuwatch (Round 7, Pick 227 | LB, Miami OH): 22-23 years old   Tetairoa McMillan, WR (Arizona) — Age: 22 Nic Scourton, EDGE (Texas A&M) — Age: 20 Princely Umanmielen, EDGE (Ole Miss) — Age: 21 Trevor Etienne, RB (Georgia) — Age: 20 Lathan Ransom, SAF (Ohio State) — Age: 23 Cam Jackson, DT (FL)- age 22 Mitchell Evans, TE (ND)- age 22 Horn-22   Fitterererere just turned out to be a awful hire, too green, too willing to please, no sense of what talent looks like on teams other than Seahawks, too much pressure, didnt have the correct network of coaches and FO office people. Kick was herniay leftd him with a bare bones talent to start with and besides taking a bottom level team and improving it, he made it even worse AND trading prime draft picks to prolong the timeline to fix. People forget Dan didn't have the 1st overall pick and 39th overall(that dude looking good for bears) to repair this team. Dan could have traded that 1st overall for a proven 1k WR, 9th overall, future 1st and future 2nd......
    • When I read the OP I was thinking more of the Franchise than the league but I agree.  To me DB is the only guy right now but I could see TMac being on the list.
    • “All-timers” usually stand out early and often.  There really isn’t much wiggle room.  Not many of the greats magically figured it out 3-4 years in.  Franchise greats is another story.  They don’t even have to be all that good to become a legend.  One play or game can make a guy a hometown hero.
