Fun question about Trgovac

If Fox is the problem and the force behind the bend don't break defenses we have had, then why does that not reflect his history as a coordinator or the defense he set up when he came here? We have evolved from what he used to run and set up, to what we have now. It makes more sense that Trgo made that transition and Fox intervened when he thought he had to when the results weren't there, then Fox suddenly changed his strategy in the past few years.

Um, b/c he was a coordinator and head to do what his head coach wanted. This is Fox's style, he is super conservative on both sides.....it is what it is. Next season you will see a weak 4 man rush w/ a lot of weak safe zone schemes.

When Del Rio was coordinator, the Panthers blitzed every play and the blitzes were never picked up and the bigger the game the better they worked.

It's no wonder fans bring Del Rio's name up as frequently and as reverently as they do.

I mean, look at the record.

Del Rio coached one season, the Panthers went 7-9 and he left town before fans could tire of him.

What are these guys at the Observer thinking about. Del Rio, 2003?

If this was true, Trgo wouldn't have been offered another contract.

Exactly. Everybody is acting like Trgo just got fired, but the fact is...he turned the Panthers down, not the other way around. That's why I'm worried...this is not all according to plan.

BTW, CRA does have a point. John Fox approves the game plan every week, so he knows and approves of the schemes that Trgo runs every week. It's not like Trgo is sneaking stuff by him just to piss off the fans.

I have a problem anytime people start talking about all the talent we have on the defensive side of the ball. This is the NFL people, if you make it to this level you have talent. There have been plenty of teams with unknown players in key positions that have been successful over the years. Let take our perceived talent levels out of the equation, because every team has talent in the NFL.

What every team doesn't have:

Good chemistry in the locker room.

Motivating leaders.

A scheme to get the most out of the players you've got.

Great coaching can do more with less talent - Good or Average coaching takes the talent that is provided and does just enough to get by. Personally I've felt like we've been doing just enough to get by the last few years. I'd give up some of this talent we've got to get a team that practices hard, plays hard, and is determined to win.

Just about every player (including Peppers) on the 08-09 Panthers roster has said that the chemistry on this team was as good as it gets. I don't see how that can happen if the players have a problem with their coaches.

I think the chemistry was great - we heard that from preseason to we got knocked out. I think the coaches got along well, everyone has been operating under a very conservative HC - I think that isn't ideal for most guys in this league to play under even if they like everyone.

    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
