Rob Ryan as Head Coach?

Maybe he's having success in Cleveland because the owner is letting him coach the way he wants and go after the players he wants.

That is certainly possible. Al Davis is notorious.

What?!?!?! You mean to tell me that ALL tam owners don't meddle with their team and undermine the Head coach?!?!? LOL

The Raiders have had some pretty darn good defenses with Ryan, but they also had a meddling owner who wanted things done his way. Also, the Browns are definitely more successful than us right now, so I don't see how that factors in to the equation.

BTW, it's a good thing the Patriots didn't think like you do or they would have passed on Belichick. He couldn't win much in Cleveland either.

too many excuses. saying that you can't judge a coach negatively because of the situations that he's been in but you can believe he's a good coach because of who his dad an brother are?

and the defenses in oakland while he was there? 2004-30th, 2005-27th, 2006-3rd, 2007-22nd, 2008- 27th. he had one decent year.

oh...and pulling the belicheck card...i don't put much stock into that argument. thats like saying the drafting of pike was smart because of where and how brady was drafted. you want to catch lightning in a bottle, have at it. i'd rather have someone that has actually seen success.

Warren Sapp has told stories about how Al Davis put Ryan in positions to fail.. He was on Dan Patrick last year and commented on how Davis would meddle with the Defense's game plan...

the Brown's are a different team.. The new FO (Holmgren) has put together some solid pieces and with his track record I would put more into the Brown's this year than Ryan with Oakland any day..

You all can form your opinions however you may, but I wouldn't compare this Brown's team to any in the past.. Just like I wouldn't compare any Detroit, Kansas City, or Rams teams to that of the past..

Rob Ryan may turn out to be a horrible coach, but I can't agree there is any good proof as of yet.. To point to the Raiders is more of a joke than anything.. Same goes for coaches who came from a different FO in Cleveland..

rob ryan would need a couple years of success in any program before he could be a serious candidate for HC somewhere, imo.

I can agree with this.. Although I won't be mad if Ryan came here.. but that's just me..

I'm the last person to ask about coaching candidates.. they are just as hard to find as QB's.. so I find it hard to believe anyone here has as good of an idea as the people at the top.. I just hope the people at the top make one of those "winning" decisions...

If Rob Ryan interviews for the job and impresses the Panthers FO, he will be hired. It's that simple. I sure as hell wouldn't complain about it or hold his stint with the Raiders against him. I guarantee you that he knows just as much as his brother about coaching defensive football.

And lets hope the Patriots Assistant Ivan Fears become the new OC. Come on now, where are all my name fanatics. Rob and Ivan, I think would be moves in the right direction for the kind of tough football we want! Either way, the kids that now make up the panther roster need tough coaches! But I have been wrong before!

    • When a team has EXPECTATIONS you have to show them that your fandom and praise is EARNED.  People would be mad if the they lost two one goal competitive games like 2023 but they wouldn't have gotten booed out of the building because the effort and competitiveness would be there but to lose in THAT fashion at home with your entire top line going free lance and saying fug this yeahhh.
    • Well with back to back road games to open the season again we really can't afford a "slow start" at least not for the psyche of the fanbase that is already at rock bottom from years of losing. I think that will depend on our approach to preseason this go around. But I do agree the makings of a culture change could be big for us. At the same time we heard talk of this last year and then we got the doors blown off multiple times. I can agree with you it's best to try to maintain perspective until we get closer to the midway point of the season. The main things I want to see early on even if we aren't necessarily winning is spark and toughness from the offense and defense and at least keeping games close.
    • First goal hmmm im going with Verhague
