Until the Panthers sign Justin Hartwig to a huge deal...

I remeber a lot of people on this board discussing this exact issue last offseason. And just made a comment the other day about how we have only had like 2 FA pickup last for more than 2 seasons as a starter; Delhomme and Lucas. At least those are the only two I can think of in the Fox/Hurney era. An improvement is needed IMO.

Our team puts alot into building from the Draft and as a result we dont have many top tier FAs come our way. Hartwig was a disappointment but injury's happen and IMO he really just didnt fit what we do here. IMO Mike Wale didnt ether although he was a good G.

This story's gotten kinda weird.

Nixonian twist in McCreight firing

As we first reported, Plain Dealer columnist Bud Shaw writes that a Browns official was trying to determine if McCreight was leaking information to reporters. While performing that, ahem, due diligence, the erstwhile investigator was given the wrong cell phone number for how to get in touch with McCreight.

Eventually, the official figured out after asking a few questions that it wasn’t McCreight on the line. It was a reporter. Hence, the secret was revealed that the Browns were looking into McCreight’s phone calls.

A few days later, McCreight was fired.

This ‘Watergate’ episode would seem to lend further credence to the reports of how coach Eric Mangini operated as HC of the NYJ and will conduct business with the Browns. As Shaw writes, paranoia is making a comeback.

What’s next? Are the Browns going to hire G. Gordon Liddy to run the security department?

What is it with former Pats guys being so paranoid? (see also)

Hartwig had the groin injury that required surgery. Vincent was coming off the same type of injury when we signed him. Vincent said that it takes two years to fully recover from that type of surgery. We only gave Hartwig one year. Vincent may not be the same player for us next year either.
