ME was planned to be a trilogy from the beginning. Bioware stated this from the beginning, hence why the 1st doesn't end the plotline.

I just hope Bioware sticks to it and doesnt leave this ending open to a 4th. I agree that there are too many cut 'n paste sequels hitting the market recently.

They've confirmed that me3 will be the end to Shepard's story.

Is it just me or is Sovereign into the entire race of reapers the best villain in any video game ever?

They'll keep telling storied in the Mass Effect universe. (Halo anyone?) it just wont be with Shepard. This is the end.

You're right Smoot, that's just how it is in parts of the entertainment industry right now. With the high costs of development for movies and games it's easier to release something safe than risk yourself releasing original IPs and starting new franchises. Music has actually started to take a swing the other way though, since mp3 files and the internet have made content extremely accessible.

As for the plot, I really hope Bioware goes all out. Ultimately the ending comes down to winning or losing vs. the Reapers, but with the decisions from the past 2 games put together and the plotline, there's comfortably room for 4 endings. I just don't know if bioware can do it and still neatly tie up all of the side plotlines they started.

They SHOULD have an ending where the reapers win. If you fug up and make the wrong choices.

Like I remember playing silent steel like 12 years ago and you made every decision because you were the submarine captain. Make the wrong ones and everyone dies.

But doing that might piss off one of Bioware's creepy, hentai-drawing fanboys/girls, and we couldn't have that!
