Christmas Gift Help: Wine

Okay, gathered some more intel from the sister. The mom and dad have opposite tastes in wine. He likes red wine (cabernet or pinot noir) and she likes sweet stuff like riesling and her favorite in some called two dog blue or something like that. Then she goes on to say it may be better to get the dad red wine and the mom a poinsettia or something.

Do you mean 'Our Dog Blue'? That is an incredibly sweet Riesling from Chateau Morisette in Virginia. I went to VT and Blacksburg is only about 45 mins from that vineyard...the wine is actually pretty good for what you are looking for...cheap too. It is usually in stock at Total Wine (at least the one off of Woodlawn in Charlotte)

From a red standpoint at that price point, go bold and get the Milton Park Shiraz from Australia. It is only 9.99 and is great for that price....another sure-fire Total Wine purchase.

I assume so. I'm gonna verify.

Thanks for everyone's help. Went by Total Wine and got the Our Dog Blue for the mom. I was a retard and didn't write down any of your suggestions, but I did take the suggestion of asking the guy who worked there what he recommended on the red wine. I got 2008 Belle Glos Meiomi Pinot Noir. He said it was part of the Caymus family (didn't know what the Hell he was talking about, but apparently that was supposed to be a good thing).
