MNF: Bears at Vikings

The only reason the Bears have seemingly switched places with the Queens this year is Pep.

And Urlacher being healthy.

Actually, pretty much the whole damn team staying healthy, and when a key player is hurt, getting lucky and playing a crap opponent.

Lots of lucky breaks for the Bear this year.

Teams need that, unless they are just unbelievably awesome, which this team is not.

Good, yes, awesome, no.

Brian Urlacher is asked in the post game interview, who is the DPOY? He replies emphatically...

"Julius Peppers. He's the defensive player of the year. I mean the guy gets double teamed every play..."

I remember people saying he was doubled teamed every play when he was here in Char. I'm not a hater. Pep's jersey was the only one I ever bought. But he was always inconsistant. And Bears fans were bitching about that fact earlier this year as well.

He is definately a great DE. Offenses have to plan around him. DPOY? Don't think so.

I have yet to hear any Bears fan bitch about Peppers this season and I'm around 50-100 plus of them every game they play.

I may be wrong, but I remember reading an article about bears fans bitching about Peppers inconsistancies back in Oct.

Glad to see Pep finally giving 100%

Wish we had the staff to get that effort out of him when he was here.

Hell if Foxy had hired a DC worth a poo he might still be around.

My only beef with Pep now is his comments towards Panther Fans.

That said, we didn't act all that grown up when he left either.

    • Names I'd keep an eye on... Coby White,  Jalen Suggs, Amen Thompson  and Stephen Castle...  3 teams except Orlando has checked on Melo before and rumblings of sours getting rid of fox too. I'd think they think Melo and Wemby would make them nuclear out west.
    • Well he somehow had 12 preseason carries for not playing. He also has 20 carries in the regular season, not three. He has actually played in about 7% of the offensive snaps for this regular season(33% of the special teams snaps). This isn't stuff you have to make up, these are very easily referenced statistics, man.
    • It's not common for a RB to recover from two ACL tears in the same knee. It's fairly rare. You are correct that it isn't the career ender that it used to be but there is also the fact that we appear to have largely moved on with the additions of Dowdle and Etienne.  Dobbins is a very good example. He has basically missed 54% of his career regular season games since he came into the league in 2020. It will end up being 57% at the conclusion of this season. It's a big contributing factor to why he is on this third NFL team in 6 years. It's certainly possible that may be 4 by the beginning of next season. I would say there is very little chance that Brooks ever contributes in any meaningful way in Carolina. Possibly with another team but I am extremely skeptical of his future here because of those injuries and because of the roster.
