Does anyone still think Wide Reciever is a big issue??

yeah and the offensive line is playing GREAT. i like to see how well Luck (who i think can be great if helped) or Newton (will struggle if he starts on any team next year) will do when they are on their back. The line needs MAJOR work.
yeah, the line needs major work, but the necessary additions that should be made can be gotten in FA. i don't really want to spend draft picks there at all. not a good class for it. get luck (or newton) and get the oline healthy and additions brought in to fill in the gaps via FA (or trade a late rounder for a good OG/OT). just really work hard at making sure the new guy is protected.

one thing i believe 100% is that the guys in front of him will give a lot more than they are probably capable of if they believe in the guy thats behind them. they did well at protecting jake because they loved him. the oline in atlanta was pretty bad the year before ryan got there but he won them over right away. a good QB can make other layers on the team look better, but i believe that he can get them to actually play at a higher level. jake was never really a good player, but we won in large part because the guys on the team believed in him.

i just don't see clausen as a guy that can make that happen.

You would honestly rather have Myron Rolle than Sherrod Martin at saftey? I can almost get behind bring in TO but I can not support replacing Martin who has been a productive member of the Defense with Rolle who struggles to make a NFL roster (if he's even still on one) let that kid go and be a brain surgeon.

Sherrod Martin has been productive, but I got a good feeling about Rolle. Had he come out in the draft instead of going to school a couple of years ago, he might have gone in the late 1st to early 2nd round. He's a big guy with good speed, and if we could bring him in, I say let him battle it out with Martin and see who comes out on top. (I wish the Panthers would have drafted him)

Godfrey can lower the boom at times, and that produces a recipe for getting turnovers. Receivers get nervous with a guy like that, and you see them drop balls occasionally because of it. Godfrey got alot of his interceptions that way. Between Godfrey and Martin, Godfrey is the better player. I do agree he can use some work in mechanics of his position, but that can be fixed. Martin is good, but I don't know if he will ever be a probowl type player year in and year out.

You just lost any remaining cred. you had on the subject

I think the biggest needs on the team is DT, OL, QB, and a shutdown Corner. Get a DT to bust through the pocket, and force the QB out side. That would allow our DE to get more sacks. We have some DE with speed, Hardy and Brown would really bennift from this.

The OL is finally doing a solid job of run blocking but they are awful at pass blocking. I know Clausen hasn't done very good, but alot of downs he doesn't have time back there, and is forced to scramble. Which leads to an incomplete pass or sack.

If they don't decide to go with Luck, then I'd say get a DT. And try to get someone like Shaun Hill. He would bring veteran leadership and has played pretty good this year. The WRs are pretty good and I think as long as Smith stay we are pretty good in that area.

I love our RBs but as bad as I hate to say it, they should probably trade one of them. They could fill another position that lacks the talent we need.

    • Carolina Panthers rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan is putting the league on notice early into his NFL career, and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan is well aware.  “I think he’s a stud,” Shanahan told reporters Thursday. “He’s going to be one of the best receivers in this league sooner than later. He’s got all the skill sets to do it, and I think he’s just getting started.”  Through 11 games played, McMillan has racked up 748 receiving yards on 54 receptions. He ranks sixth in the NFL in receiving yards and leads all rookies in the category.  Carolina selected McMillan as the No. 8 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. San Francisco had the 11th overall pick.  Did the receiver out of Arizona catch Shanahan’s eye in draft preparation?  “Yeah, big time,” Shanahan said.  Shanahan also said that he thought the receiver would be taken well ahead of the 49ers’ draft position, but the team did their due diligence when scouting the best overall draft picks in the 2025 class. With McMillan off the board, San Francisco ended up selecting defensive end Mykel Williams with the 11th pick to bolster its defensive line. https://www.nbcsportsbayarea.com/nfl/san-francisco-49ers/kyle-shanahan-tetairoa-mcmillan/1893558/
    • Koochie is playing his best hockey yet so far but it’s a small sample size
    • In basically every win but Atlanta he's had 2-3 plays that were a big deal but he also was part of why we needed those 2-3 plays instead of just cruising.
