So I hooked up with this farm and am very excited:

$4 per pound for a whole chicken (bought 6 of them that will be available this friday)

Beef is $3.33 per pound of hanging weight and that is fully processed (cut and packaged the way you like it, each cow averages 450 lbs of meat after the bones are removed, you pay for about 600 lbs of hanging weight.) This seems like a great deal for me as this includes ribeye, filet, flank steak, ribs, t-bones, roasts, cube steak, ground beef, etc. I don't think you can get organic grass fed ground beef for $3.33 per pound.... I just now need to find one of my cousins to go 50/50 with me as I don't have the freezer capacity for 450lbs of meat.

fresh is best for sure...but one thing....healthy sure is damn expensive!

Frances Lappe talked about this stuff in her book, Diet for a Small Planet, about 40 years ago.

When I read her book, I was already a rookie vegetarian, that helped solidify it.
