What will the guaranteed $$ be for #1?

Assuming Luck declares and we draft him, what would the guaranteed money number look like? I've heard some people say as little as $10MM and others as much as $25MM. I'm just trying to temper my excitement of possibly paying a franchise QB 1/5 of what STL paid Bradford, and having mucho cap room to build around him with.

Goodell also said the NFL needs a rookie pay ceiling, after negotiating $1.2 billion in contracts to 256 rookies in 2009, with $585 million guaranteed.

“Don’t get me wrong: Top draft choices will continue to be highly paid,” Goodell wrote. “All we’re asking for is a return to common sense in paying our rookies. Other leagues have done this and we can, too.”

not sure, but a lot of it will probably have to do with what position is played.

for a QB i could see as high as $50mil, but it will probably be closer to $30mil.

all of it speculation, though. no one really has a clue what to expect. any numbers you see thrown about by anyone until a CBA is reached will most likely have been pulled from someone's arse.

since the cba hasnt been agreed to we have no idea. almost 90% positive a rookie salary cap will be in place that will effect this years draft. 25 m sounds more reasonable to me.

Times are tough with the coming inflation and all and also remember a million dollars does not go as far as it used to. These rookies are going to be struggling to pay their bills.

Yeah me and a coworker were talking and we thought they would do a standard slotted pay scale based on when you were drafted, with position played not being a factor at all. Like perhaps #1 gets $23MM guaranteed, #2 gets $19, etc. How does the NBA rookie $$$ scale work??

saltman I was just saying that if and when the new CBA is agreed on and put in place the new rookie pay scale could be around $10 million for 3 yrs and around 750,000 ganatree thats what I would do and for rookies not being able to pay there bills then i say is get an apartment and save ur money not go out and buy all the expensive bling and be broke they should let the dollars sing bankrupt them there first yr in the nfl and when they earn a bigger contract then they can start spending alittle bit more

    • Not in same league. Caldwell just hit a 10.00 on the RAS. 2nd out of 3830 from 1987 onward.  https://x.com/MathBomb/status/2027885023387349047 Yeah I mean Louis had a sub 9.00 RAS. Still very very good, no doubt. Louis is small, no 2 ways about it. He is likely a sub package lb in nickel packages or specialized WLB. Be fine ST gunner to start for sure. 6 foot flat and 220lb is pushing it for a starting LB. At 10 to 20lbs less than the other LBs he'd better be closer to the top in most timed drills. He's gonna be challenged when some of the wrs in the class can matchup bigger stronger faster, much less TE in the run game.  Yeah instinct matter and he has them, but that size is a massive red flag compared to many of the other LBS in this class.    Rodriguez is the LB that really climbed this week from a pure grit guy to great flash with athleticism people wrote off cause he was a QB at first at UVA. 18.4mph in the backpedal. Production the last 2 years were great. I'd be thrilled with him as the future mike.   Hill likely moved out of 51 and into the top 45 picks ( Ravens at 45 I can't imagine don't bite if he makes it there). Honestly Hill imo is a 1st rounder and I'd be ok with him as he fits the MLB we have missed the last few years. People would crow it's a reach but he's top 30 all-time I'm RAS for a LB at 9.9+ . Plus he was big time in big games when he was healthy. And that br a big check: meds.
    • Miller, Melo, Coby, Moose, and Bridges all on the floor at the same time must be a nightmare for defenses lol. Switch one out for Kon and still a nightmare. Coby really does bring a true 6th man value and looks like he could start if Melo was out after only a few games of getting his feet wet.
    • Well I guess he should stop playing football. This was his defining moment and chance to prove he was generational and he failed. What a waste of football life..
