So who here thinks Matt Moore will get re-signed for next year?

Hello gang.

A lot of it will will probably have to do with how his recovery from surgery turns out, but when looking at our depth chart, which we have been able to do quite extensively this past season, and Richardson obviously still looking to stay cheap, along with his comments a couple of weeks back of really wanting to come back to Carolina, I can still see this happening.

Even if we draft Luck, and even if he miraculously plays like a 2 year vet his first year( which is a long shot and once again probably another big disappointment to the hopeful optimists on this board since no matter what he does he'd STILL be a rookie), this past season shows us just how vital back-up QBs can be when things go wrong.

I still believe Matt can be a great back-up for us even if he never manages to be a permanent starter and I would still rather have him back there than anyone else we currently have on our roster, or any other busted veteran we may be able to pick up in the off-season. Plus, to Richardson's delight I'm sure Matt and his agent would be willing to do it for cheap!

Comments, thoughts?

please drop this crap. so old now

I'm curious as to why you are against the idea. He's proven to be a great backup at worst and just had two bad games this year with no run game to help him out. There isn't much in FA and he's clearly the best QB on the roster.

If you are Hurney and not a moron fan, why DON'T you bring him back?

It's only been asked maybe twice and in comparison to all the other Jimmy sucks, hire Harbaugh, and draft Luck, it's a breath of fresh air.

You know what the thread was about when you opened it so you only have yourself to blame.

Don't order a poo sandwich for lunch then complain about the taste.

I really don't care, Im just tired of hearing the same question asked over and over.

Well I have not posted here in about 2 months now but I did do a search on Moore before making this thread....I couldn't find one 5 pages back so I thought it would be something worth asking.

All recent threads seem to be about Luck, Clausen or Fox.

I have no problem with a Luck, Moore, Clausen start to the season.

Did I just say that?

No, I don't like it. Draft Luck, sign a vet and keep Pike. Moore needs to walk and trade Clausen to a team who thinks he still has upside. Unfortunately I fear that an early 4th round pick might be the best we can hope to get for him.

Which vet?

In which world could you get an early 4th for Jimmy Clausen?

    • Panthers sign OT Rasheed Walker Terms: One year, up to $10 million Grade: A The price of this deal might be the most shocking of free agency thus far. Walker was widely considered the best free agent tackle this year and was expected to receive a large contract. But his market developed very slowly, so he has signed a one-year deal with a maximum value of $10 million -- meaning the base value is below that -- per NFL Network. For context, my free agency contract model projected a deal averaging $21.8 million for Walker. Instead, it's a short-term commitment for less than half that. And the Panthers are the beneficiaries. Carolina entered this offseason with a possible need at left tackle after Ikem Ekwonu suffered a patellar tendon rupture in the playoffs that put his 2026 season in question. It's also the last year of his contract. The Panthers signed Stone Forsythe as an insurance plan already in free agency, but once Walker's market fell it seemed like they felt adding him was well worth it, too. Our win rate metrics consider Walker to be a solid player. Last season in Green Bay, he was in the 85th percentile among tackles in pass block win rate, though only 22nd percentile in run block win rate. He was in the 69th percentile and 48th percentile in those two metrics in 2024, respectively. Given that Dan Moore Jr. received $20.5 million per year from the Titans last year most -- myself included -- thought Walker would walk away with more than that. Perhaps the struggles of Moore (who wasn't great last season) contributed to Walker's market being cooler than expected, a theory that ESPN's Jeremy Fowler suggested. Walker was also arrested two months ago at LaGuardia Airport in New York for allegedly trying to check-in with a firearm that he had a license for in Wisconsin but not New York. Either way, teams felt differently about Walker than most on the outside thought. But he's a heck of an add for the Panthers at this price. While his run-game contributions might be far from perfect, a weak pass protector at tackle can sink a passing game. Even if this is only a one-year arrangement, Walker should be able to help keep Bryce Young upright
    • Fantastic signing. If he is good, this will make next offseason really interesting. I would imagine that Morgan would try to extend Walker and convince Ikey to move to the right side to replace Moton. This also opens up options at 19 at lot instead of forcing a tackle. I'm not a fan, but I'm definitely more open to Morgen drafting Sadiq now, but there is also Peter Woods, and even some like Dillon Thieneman is now in the mix. Hell, I'm still for another off ball LB.
    • sure, but Panthers are theoretically in their win now window. Their first rounder needs to be a day one starter
