How is it dumb to attain a Coordinator as a head coach who has been in the NFL for a number of years, and has helped lead an organization from a 4-12 record to 3 winning seasons and 2 playoff births in 3 years (to include a 13-3 season consisting of wins over the Aints, Bucs, Ravens, Packers; not to mention #1 seed in NFC) ?????!!!! Not to mention you want to draft a QB, don't you think an Offensive-minded head coach would help mold that young QB?! Please explain your insane notion that this would be stupid...

And if you're referring to my desire to draft Cam Newton over Andrew Leaf, I submit this to you...Look at the teams Joey harrington jr has faced. Look at how he struggled against Oregon....lemme say that again...OREGON...not some defensive powerhouse!! 2nd half stats in that game for Andrew Leaf...0 TDS 2 INTS, BALL GAME LOST!!!! Now take a look at what Cameron Newton has done against ELITE DEFENSES like LSU, Alabama, South Carolina...CMON!! Oh and please dont bring up what Luck did to a defense that couldnt stop James Madison (VA tech)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess since you responded to me, I'll answer you.

1. Being a fan of two teams in one division is a bit ridiculous. I live in Georgia, that doesn't make me a Falcons fan. Likewise, having a house in Charlotte doesn't make you a Panthers fan. To be a fan of two teams in a division is to take all of the fun out of enjoying sports. The enjoyment of following a team is to follow its rollercoaster type year, not just hop over and cheer for another team in the same division. What do you do when they both play? You win no matter what? Asinine.

2. Mike Mularkey isn't that spectacular and I'd much rather have Rivera. His offense relies on curl routes, checkdowns, and everything else uninteresting about sports that won't ever get the Falcons over the hump. I'm not saying he's not all right, but that's not what I was calling you out for in terms of retardation. I wouldn't hate Mularkey here, but he's certainly not some amazing coordinator that's a must-have. He's not the only part of that coaching staff to help that team get wins.

3. Why exactly would we want a division rival coordinator anyway?

4. Peyton Manning's last bowl game was 180ish yards, a pick, and a loss. What a bust, yeah? The only defense that Cam Newton's had to read is his own in a court for theft. He's not required to make any reads, and nothing suggests he knows how. Luck showed that he can read progressions, make checkdowns, and create big plays out of blown ones.

I don't care how many exclamation points you use, it doesn't make you right.

We're not getting an established HC, we're going with another DC. Hurney sticking around and heading the search should have told everyone that.

We're literally looking for the next John Fox. Maybe JR is trying to drum up beer sales.

I know people can hear the same words and get different interpretations...but I did not get the "100% we're going with a OC/DC as next HC" from the presser.

What I got was:

a coach that fits the organization

a coach that can fill the stadium

a coach that can discipline when needed

a coach that can win back to back seasons

a coach that does not have 5,6,7 losses in a row without making change

yes, Hurney said that "in the past" they had went with upcoming assistants and that he thought that went well? uhhhhhh 5 minutes before Jerry is saying that Fox only had 3 winning seasons in 9 years - I see that as contradiction - Jerry clearly stated that Hurney will do the interviews - he will make the decision.

I've not heard any rumor of Cowher going anywhere lately - so I think its still a possibility - I think all these interviews are actually interviews for coordinator positions and required Rooney rule interviews.

and... He is only owner that is former player "I want to win more than anyone". Don't delete anyone from consideration till they have signed elsewhere or Panthers finally name a coach. Its still a possibility

Well I appreciate the sensible response, first of all. I support both teams until they face each other, along with praying they both demolish the Aints. Above all I am a Falcons fan, but I also support the panthers. I hope that meets your standards, since it appears you work for the "Fan" police.

I think your point with Peyton Manning is a bad one, considering he also played elite defenses with in the SEC. I just personally see Andrew Luck as a kid whose success has been due to his system, but mostly, the lack of elite competition in the Pac-10 (See Joey Harrington, the Super Intelligent, Pro-Style, Cant-miss, Pac-10 QB who was labeled "Joey Heisman" and awarded the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award in 2001). Those defenses are abysmal, and Oregons isnt good either. So what will be your take when Cam shreds a defense Luck struggled against? How do you think Luck would have faired had he faced Ala, Lsu, South Carolina instead of Oregon St, Cal, and Washington?

Oh and by the way..Mularkey isn't that spectacular?

6th in offensive TDs in NFL

5 offensive pro bowlers

He can be conservative...but he knows how to get it done! Not to mention I honestly think hes held back by Smitty (being that he's a Defensive head coach) I love Smitty, but i truly think Mularkey is capable of more..He would be a great panthers HC...

NO

 Did you watch the Orange Bowl?

I watched him for the 1st time last night. That was all him. The throws on the run, the touch passes, the bombs down field, back shoulder, he can make them all. His success is because he is that good. Really.

You guys are killing me reciting Lucks performance from the Va Tech game..i repeat..VA TECH COULDN'T STOP JAMES MADISON...isn't James Madison some community college? lol... if va tech couldnt stop them, of course luck would shred them. Could you imagine what Cam would do to va tech, given what he did to Alabama and LSU??

So basically what I gathered from your post is that you're an SEC homer. Cool story bro.

And your last post proves it even more

When teams win, they go to the Pro Bowl. Kind of a given. Falcons beat up on the terrible NFC West.

Remember that year 13 Cowboys players went to the Pro Bowl? And the next year, how many went?

It's like saying Jordan Gross is a top 3 LT right now because he's going to the Pro Bowl.

The falcons also beat up on the Bucs (twice), Saints, Packers, Ravens, (can i count seattle? they are a playoff team...lol..jk)
