How bad do we need a DE?Would we franchise Johnson?

If Rivera thinks he can solve the DT issue in FA, I am all for Bowers.

And, I do think Rivera will be agressive in addressing the DT postion. He is a coach that likes to bring pressure from the Front 4 and knows how instrumental a pass rushing DT is.

I've said it before and I'm saying it again. Bowers should be the pick. My main concern with fairley is giving him that big contract. His position his character and his work ethic all seem to me all to risky.

That's not entirely accurate. He's not a superstar DE straight out of college but he's also not complete poo. I think he's gotten better every year he's played and it will be interesting, to me, to see what (if any) additional progress he makes with a different coaching staff (that is not just going through the motions?) around him.

I may have overstated when i called him "poop," but he definitely hasn't lived up to the 1st round pick that we gave up for him.

Fairley would be a pick for need. We need two DTs. If we drafted Fairley and signed Richard Seymour* we would be a force with Johnson and Brown/Hardy. What about Norwood? Haven't read his name that much in these threads. Or is he more of a LB in Rivera's D?

*I know, this would never happen...not these two. JR surely wouldn't have that with the character issues.

Not much behind him in the stable though.

He had oustanding statistics and is BY FAR our best DE. Not sure how deep we will go ino tthe pockets to re-sign him, but I have to think it will be a big contract.
