Not to take away anything from HW, but his opposition tonight was a joke.

this is true in his next fight he said he would like to fight Mark Coleman or Dan Severn and for any body who follows MMA those are pretty big names to be callin out.... They are legends in MMA

Mark Coleman-http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Mark-Coleman-136

Dan Severn-http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Dan-Severn-52

Agree with your points, but in a MMA cage fight, Herchel Walker will destroy Beason.

yeah, because Walker trains MMA. he'd beat just about anyone who doesn't train MMA.

put them on a level playing field, as in have Beason put the same passion and intensity into training MMA that he does into football, and Walker will be ground beef.

I would love to see him fight either Coleman or Severn. I like HW a lot and I think it's a great story. Time to see what he can do against some real competition.

Has this guy ever been married? Any Kids? Girlfriends? Or does he swing from the other side of the plate?

I'm asking becaused he is a physical and mental freak.

Yeah he's married and has kids. During his post fight interview he said his kid won 6 medals in a gymnastics contest that morning.

Also, anyone criticizing his opponents doesn't understand MMA much. This was only his second fight, he's not going to get a top 10 guy. You get the more experienced guys when you get more experience. Only reason he is on the main televised card is because he's a huge draw from non MMA fans and can help mainstream the sport.

He also donates all his proceeds to charity so I see nothing wrong with who he fights or where on the card he fights. Dude is a stud.

Sub 4.4 40? FML

agreed the guy is a beast he just started 2 years ago and he's 48.... another reason he was on the main card because its Strikeforce... (but UFC did have James Toney as co main event)

Dana did admit it was only because it would draw PPV and Toney would sell the fight. He said he'd never do it again and he's done with fights like that.

I was watching some commentary and they are saying that Herschel has a good opportunity to become one of the best ambassadors for the sport.

48 or not, he is in fine shape. I think I saw Mama-San squirming a bit while we were watching the fight.....:D

Yeah because he is maybe the biggest mainstream sport star/athlete to cross over to MMA and have some success (everything relative).

He talked a lot in his post fight interview with Ariel that he wanted to get the fighters paid better, which is what a lot of people talk about, and that he wants to continue to train because he loves it and not necessarily fight.

He's setting himself up very nicely for some sort of executive role within either Strikeforce, UFC, or possibly some state athletic commission to try and further the sport and get the fighters a bit of a better deal in terms of compensation and insurance.

Bottom line is he is great for MMA and MMA fans like myself.
