Fairley wants to talk

So if he turned out to be a complete flop, that would be cool because he wasn't the #1 overall pick? There were all of 12 players taken before him. You act like he was a 3rd rounder.

No, it wouldn't be cool at all. But the #13 pick doesn't carry as much importance as the #1 pick. We atleast had DWill if Stewart were to bust. In this case we have Fairley at a position with nobody there and were he to bust would be devasting for us. OTOH, we have NOBODY and he fills a position of need.

BTW, #13=team is atleast decent. #1=the worst team in the league aka can't afford to swing and miss.

No to mention everyone's boy Luck is so far a one year wonder, and no one would complain if we drafted him.

Luck threw for 13TDs, rushed for 2 more and had 4INTs as a freshman. Then made the leap to 32TDs, 3 rush TDs, 8INTs as a mere sophmore. He still has his junior year to prove himself. But those are stats that not many accomplish as freshman or sophmores.

I agree with you. For me it goes beyond the one year wonder mark (which scares me) but more with what I see on gameday. He doesn't warrant being the #1 pick for me. A large number of his sacks and TFLs he was left completely unblocked. That won't happen in the NFL. He tends to take plays off too.

Just from this past year's draft class, Colt McCoy and Sam Bradford both had better stats than Luck did as freshmen. There's a reason he wasn't on anyone's radar until this year.

See, that I can dig. That's not something arbitrary. I still vehemently disagree with you, but it's much better than your original argument.

Well Bradford and McCoy operated out of a spread offense. So they had a higher number of attempted passes. Spread offenses are more QB friendly.

For the record, I wouldn't mind if Fairley was the choice. Neither would I care if Peterson or Green were it for that matter. In all honesty, I really don't think anyone of them are worth the #1 pick. But hey, I don't get paid for this stuff and I hope they make the right decision.

Do you want Fairley with the #1?
