Cam Newton Public Workout

Plus one NFL scout said he wouldn't be surprised at all if Newton went number 1 overall so they are all over the map right now. We will know more after 2/10

Exactly, these analysts and scouts are still gathering information and they will be right up until draft day. People are acting like it's unheard of for a players stock to rise.

My point all along as been that Cam's stock will rise as they go through the process, and this workout is just the first step.

Hell, I still remember that some scouts and analysts thought Peyton Manning looked too skittish in the pocket, so they had Ryan Leaf ranked ahead of him. The professionals disagree with each other just as often as us fans do, and they are actually wrong just about as often as well. If they were always right, then Tom Brady would have never lasted until the 6th round.

That's the best part. The that just acknowledged that he had some footwork issues and needed work were "haters" because his footwork was always fine, you must not have seen that highlight vid someone posted that one time in every thread. When they made great strides and it is NOW NFL ready, it shows it lacked before.

Of course we will somehow still be wrong about him and still only be haters and the other group will always know that his footwork was fine before and he didn't need it.

I wonder if they will question his accuracy on NFL throws next, instead of those swings and hitches that made his % over 70.

How is it I "Acknowledged" that he had poor footwork? Because I quoted an ESPN article that had him work with a QB specialist for FOUR DAYS, and the guy said he was blown away by his footwork?

But yeah, you'll reach for anything to prove a point as evidenced by the fact you believe an average NFL DT's can run a 40 yard dash in 4.7 seconds.

How can you say this is the first step to making his stock rise when scouts and execs call it a publicity stunt and don't know why the hell he's doing it? They seem more annoyed than impressed.

His stock can rise, but only if he does the right things and plays the game the right way. If he lets his dad try and prove Cam is bigger than the combine/pro days/draft then he won't rise at all.

If you want to quote Russ Lande as an authority, that's wise because he is one. But for the sake of your argument, you might want to look up what he's previously said about Newton.

Ex-NFL scout: Cam Newton is not a 1st round draft pick

Lande considers Newton to be two to three years away from being ready to play in the NFL as a traditional quarterback.

Before the Auburn-Alabama game, they showed highlights of Newton’s poor mechanics, especially his lazy footwork. Lande has him rated as the 51st player in his Super 99.

You don't really need any help with that, it's more like a Character Suicide.

When I'm wrong, I'll be the first person to admit it. I'm a passionate Panther's fan and want my team to succeed and see a chance at that in Newton. If that makes me a son of a bitch in some people's eyes on a message board, so be it.

When Newton is drafted, by whomever, I'll change the sig.

Besides, when you have a chorus of idiots around you backing up your wrong thinking, it's a whole lot easier to sound and look smart. Just ask Mr. Scot.

Once again, if there are scouts out there who will pass on Cam because of a workout that hasn't even happened yet, then they suck at their jobs and need to be fired.

You are blowing this so out of porportion that it's not even worth arguing about anymore. And BTW, have you not wondered how many execs and scouts Rang talked to before he got the quote that he was looking for all along?

I don't get what you have against Mr. Scot. He's one of the most universally respected posters on this board besides by people who have a love affair with Newton because all they see is race. You and KT are the only ones.

Keep going with that character suicide

You look dumber and dumber in every post. You use one source as a point to debunk someone else even though that same person had your favorite player ranked low second round.

    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
    • Best part is if we draft him, we can also use him as our fourth and one QB sneaker
