I had to get my ex some Tampax once. I was on my way home and she called and ask me to pick them up. Being the good husband that I was, I agreed. It was during the Christmas holidays so all the stores were extra crowded. I hate shopping to begin with, but really hate going to stores during x-mas.

I get to the drug store, get the Tampax and go to stand in line at the register hoping I don't run into a neighbor or friend. When I finally get to the cash register, the guy behind the counter tried to scan it. Of course, the scanner isn't reading the price. I just thinking "C'mon already. I just want to pay for it and leave." Much to my avail, the scanner just doesn't want to read the price.

So the guy behind the counter grabs the microphone, and begins to speak over the store loud speaker "Price check on Tampax, Price check on Tampax". I'm thinking "Great. Just what I needed. More attention drawn to me." I avoid looking at anyone behind me and begin to flip through some magazines to hide my embarrassment.

Then another voice comes over the store loud speaker; "Is that the kind you push in or the kind you hammer in?"

I'm thinking "WTF! Is there something my wife hasn't told me? I thought I knew everything about that stuff." I didn't say anything because I didn't want everyone to think I didn't know what was going on.

I look back at the people waiting in line behind me. The women have smirks on their faces as they look at me. All the men are avoiding eye contact with me, with the heads down, looking the other way. I can imagine they are all thinking "Better you than me, buddy."

Finally, the second voice comes over the loud speaker again and says "Sorry, I thought you said thumb tacks"

Needless to say, I never picked up that stuff for her again, and she knew not to ask.
