Happy thoughts....Think happy thoughts....

Many of you think the Carolina Huddle is a place to attack other's opinions without fear of the bodily harm that would come to you if your words were delivered personally. This thread presents an interesting challenge.

See if you have the mental capacity to function with a few variables/conditions thrown in.

3 Rules

1. You must only comment on players who are not your first choice for the Panthers to draft;

2. You must only provide positive reasons the player would be good for the team without comments that can be construed as negative.

3. You may add to other posts but you may not attack or question them.

I think some of you will struggle with this. I will start.

DE DaQuan Bowers: Bowers would give the Panthers two DEs who can both shut down the run and pressure the passer. In a 4-3, the DE position is critical. Size, athleticism, and speed are critical and hard to find. Before, we had to play Brayton to stop the run and insert Brown/Hardy to stop the pass. The problem? They passed when Brayton was on the field or ran away from him; he had 16 tackles and no sacks in 15 games. They ran under Hardy and Brown. We cannot assume that Hardy and Brown will ever be more than situational pass rushers until they show us differently. Bowers is a 280 lb DE who led the NCAA in sacks. He can bull rush, swim, squeeze down the run and turn on a dime on the edge. DT is a huge need, but the draft is deep there. Free agents are available. Nobody is going to let an athletic DE like Bowers get away. Draft him first overall.

(I am a Green supporter, followed by Fairley. However, as I wrote, I started convincing myself Bowers would be a good pick. I had to open my mind. Yes. Open it by considering another perspective. It is what intellectuals do. )

Drafting Fairley or Newton would guarantee us picking first in 2012

Nice try. If I replied, "I knew I should have posted this before middle school let out for the day," that would be sarcastic and could be perceived as negative. So, I will not state that in response to your post or any others. Thank you for your contribution during the Power Rangers Power Hour.

Drafting Patrick Peterson would give us a Revis type corner that we can shut down half of the field with. He also excels in the return game and he would be a guy that would be a threat to take a punt or kick to the house at any moment. He's a big physical corner who's not afraid to jam a receiver at the LOS and he has the kind of confidence and swagger that a shut down corner needs. He also has shown he has a short memory in the few times he's been beat deep. When he gives up a play he turns around and makes one.....

And last year teams avoided Gamble, so I can only assume it would make life dificult for the stellar QBs in the NFC South.

Exactly, a starting CB duo of Peterson and Gamble with Munnerlyn as the nickel would be dangerous for opposing QBs. All three of those guys know how to get to the ball and make a play on it....

No one wants to play devil's advocate with you dumbsh*t

Socrates was a moron and so are you for thinking this was going to enlighten anyone

anyone? yes. Everyone? no. If you think Socrates was a moron, I suppose this won't help you. Aside from trying to derail this thread, is there a purpose here? If not, may I suggest another thread dedicated to assholes? Glad I could help.

    • Been here since middle school right when it started around 2003 after the charlotte.com one. Living outside of Carolina it was tough to find good Panthers content, news or analysis. And no one to talk to about it. This place gave me a lot though I don’t often post. In the later days, I particularly Loved PhillyB’s write ups. They were fire. Too bad I go let it go. I appreciate the hell out of @MHS831 @TheSpecialJuan @Jackie Lee and others who have been posting great content and keeping this place worth coming back to. Particularly during the offseason. Appreciate y’all!
    • Nice explanation, but I was just messing with you. Thought that would be obvious. I dont have the energy to keep on trolling. Last season I compared our situation with Bryce as a potential Alex Smith, but what we should be looking for is our version of Mahomes. Some people will read that as one sentence, to me that single sentence is equivalent to a half A4 explanationf of the teams pathway forward.
    • I dont know how much of his salary would come across and how much a trade would cost but I feel Kmet would be the sort of TE Canales and Morgan would like
