Questions about vacationing on the Gulf Coast

I've never been and we're thinking about taking about 4 days and going to Destin Fl. I've heard that area is really nice. Is there any other places in the Florida panhandle that you recommend other than Destin? Should I look at going to Mississippi or Alabama? It's just going to be me and my man.

I'm so naive about the area any information would be helpful.

I always enjoyed Siesta Key (Sarasota area).. supposed to be one of the top beaches in Florida..

I lived down in Fort Walton for about 3 years...it's a pretty nice area. Destin is a real nice place, lots of good places to eat and the beaches are pretty good. Crab island is a thing of beauty in the summer time.

Found an awesome B&B in Destin. But it seems the time to go is Sept. or Oct.

Yeah i was looking at April or May. But I may delay it till after summer so the water is already warm.
