XL got killed last year and doesn't trust BY to throw him the ball. Put a different QB in and I imagine he would immediately improve.

BY still has the same weaknesses I called out pre draft.

Happy feet.

Can't stay on schedule consistently

Can't read defenses properly at the line to set protection.

He's still the same guy.

Very little difference. There was a stretch when he was benched but getting garbage time and I saw that he had Finally paid attention to his throwing process. Canales had him taking three steps planting and throwing. At times. And he looked much better. I mean, using the Bryce grading curve, which is average for most = really good for him.
But he isn’t focusing on it and I see the same bad footwork that he brought with him, far too often. He just does not have the arm to disregard his fundamentals.

I have been talking about this since year one, the mechanics. It is very hard to tear down the old and put in new, and not revert to your familiar, old, comfortable way when the heat is on.

I'm pretty sure there was quite a few of us, saying that you couldn't draft Bryce to be the guy and that he would need an all-pro caliber team around him to compete.

How he was the #1 rated player in that draft by consensus I'll never understand.

He wasn't. It was the result of media hype and that stupid S2 test. Stroud always made the most sense from a logical perspective trading up. AR was far too raw, Bryce had to defy the lack of 50 years of NFL QB success for someone with his measurables. It was a feel good story for a guy from a program that had more talent than anyone else they played week in and week out, and our cosplay NFL exec owners fell for it hook line and sinker.

I was right there with you. I hoped for the best and tried to support once he was drafted. But the media created legend of Bryce Young the draft prospect was honestly like nothing I've ever seen. For a kid who didn't even play all that particularly great for Alabama (Mac Jones was the better college QB and it really wasn't close) he received an insane level of benefit of the doubt. From his supposed elite football IQ elite processing elite preparation elite field general abilities elite leadership yada yada the guy could do absolutely no wrong. Even when he showed up to the combine and hid out in a hoodie refusing to throw nobody batted an eye. And even after that he was still compared to current and past hall of famers in the NFL and other sports across the spectrum. If he didn't play for Saban and Alabama it would have been and would be right now completely different in the way he was and is perceived. But again. I've never seen anything like it for other prospects that I can think of in recent memory. Others have been dissected in some way or another. Maybe the only other comparison I would make would be Andrew Luck. But Luck had the necessary physical intangibles that Bryce Young very plainly lacked when you sit down and watch the tape. It was crazy then and it is still crazy now. 🤷‍♂️

I much prefer the content of this thread than the constant crying in others. Glad people were able to come in here make their observations and not derail the conversation. Good opinions in here.

here’s to next season boyz.

I am hoping we clean house. I have seen franchises like the bears do exactly what i think we’re gonna do. They have not had a new staff come in yr one and pick their QB, at least not recently. Past 3 QBs for them have had a new headcoach in year 2. I want an adult in the room. I don’t blame them for hiring canales, we just weren’t as marketable as other teams at the time. Still want an offensive minded HC, but i want a proven playcaller.

At this point, I just want a coach that takes preseason somewhat seriously, goes off on the team when they look like poo, and knows basic poo like not trying to run the clock out in the last 2 minutes of a half. I'm tired of these "rah rah rah" coaches that will only say nice things about the team when we all know the team has looked like poo in the preseason and the 1st 2 weeks of the season. If you play like poo (Scott, XL, Rozeboom, Wallace, Bryce, etc.), then let them know and tell them to play better or sit their ass on the bench. There is just too much complacency on this team and they know they are safe despite many players looking like poo so far.

He's a first overall pick. He's one of the smallest and least physically gifted QB's in the entire league. We did not draft him under the guise that he would need top shelf talent and coaching across the board just to look mid. You are basing your conclusion on your emotional attachment. That's all there is to it. Everyone else can see it. Besides. You've already created a thread saying he should be cut a whole year ago. You have no leg to stand on in this discussion anyways. Appreciate the convo bud. Have a lovely day.

I went to Clemson. And without giving up personal details, I have more reasons to not be rooting for Bryce. He is however, the QB for a team I love dearly.

I laid out clearly an argument that you nor anyone else can argue with it. It’s because everything I said was facts. You dismiss it because you’re dealing with your emotional responses to your team losing. You need someone to blame for disturbing your feelings good, it’s lazy and emotional. I understand tho, fans tend to be emotional.

There is counseling and 31 other teams. Quite a few with big hulking young men playing QB. You got some options. Being emotional and bitter is your right as a fan, but consider how you might be affecting others around you.

So three first round picks on a QB, but the OLine and the running game has to be dominant for him to succeed?

Make it make sense. That's how you handle a career journeyman, a game manager you bring off the bench when the starter goes down.

Make it make sense? Bryce is short and extremely talented. Given his height disadvantage we need a very good O-line. While we all would have preferred Cam to have had a better O-line, because he was huge and could take a beating, we didn’t spend as much on the O-line.

Jared Goff, who is tall, is only good if given time in the pocket, otherwise he is a disaster. QBs have their strengths and weaknesses, and you have to build the offense to limit weaknesses and maximize strengths; no matter who your organization is or your QB.

CJ Stroud also needs a dominant O-line.

Your reasoning is based on what you want. You are not operating on a basis any different from any other fan. We can argue all day about the pieces and the coaches around Bryce Young. The simple fact of the matter is as a first overall pick he is supposed to elevate those around him in situations too. We are not seeing that. In fact he is putting his team in early holes due to his physical limitations and his poor decision making. And he has done that now three consecutive years to start the season.

If you want to sing kumbaya now that's great brother I've got no problems with you but you have been the complete opposite of that for over a year now and spamming poo reactions over Bryce. You have been by no means an objective observer anymore than anyone else.

And no I am not going to quit the Panthers because Bryce Young becomes a bust. I mean you yourself have flip flopped on him multiple times so I really don't even know where you get the audacity to even suggest that lol. But again. Thanks for the conversation sir.
