Davis Mock draft: Panthers pull surprise by taking Newton No. 1

Hmm. Maybe you should read up in the other threads how we now have two stories about his Combine interviews and one is being called out as a fraud (that would be the one in the negative)?

Hmmm maybe that's nothing to do with what I was talking about.

Everyone here has been trying to tell you guys that Cam is very much in the media love fest. You have been insisting that people are bringing up his past because the media are hating on him and want him to fail.

Somehow the media still think he goes #1 in a variety of places despite your claims.

How odd.

Hmmm maybe you missed my point.

While we have an NFL.com analyst saying he'll go #1, we've got an Alabama redneck sports radio commentator doing his best to discredit Newton's eligibility last year. And we have a report from Rob Rang saying Indy's Combine team gave him high praise, while at the same time someone, in the media, reported he did horrible. We also have the NFL.com staff interviewing Newton after the combine to talk about his performance and give him a chance to air his response to his "Icon" statement, because Peter King decided to tweet a comment without any supporting content.

There's two sides here with Newton's treatment in the media. One is about facts and merit. The other is about heresay, rumor, innuendo and outright lies. Unfortunately, there are more people playing up the rumor mill than listening to facts.

And yet he is sitting pretty in the majority of mock drafts.

And yet he is sitting pretty in the majority of mock drafts.

So just because people rank him high on their draft boards, any ill treatment of him by the media is irrelevant?

Please...

People are moving him up because they don't want to look like idiots when he goes high in the first round. Not because they like him, or are giving him a fair shake.

No, you don't seem to grasp that the media genuinely likes Cam. I don;t really understand why you don't want to accept it. It's no surprise because he comes across as a really nice guy and is confident enough (or naive) to not just give out PR every time he opens his mouth.

People have been listing him as a potential #1 for a looooong time now.

The thing is, the media is reporting what has actually happened in his past, yet they still love him and state he could be a #1. You seem to see them reporting facts as them trying to betray him or something.

With greater potential comes greater scrutiny. Cam is not the first, nor the last player in this draft (or any past or future) to be put under the microscope.

Why do you refuse to accept that Cam is liked?

do a google search and check who's name is sitting quietly on top of a lot of mock drafts on the first page.

if your too lazy to do it...

...it's marcell dareus.

And where is Cam? Outside the top 5? Nope. He is projected by virtually every reputable outlet to get at worst top 10. A lot of places are now listing him equal or greater than Gabbert.

Yet still people think he is hated. I just don't get it.
