I can't find anything on this offer or the fact that Doty is no longer going to hear the NFL cases after 12am tonight....just heard it on ESPN....I would like to see some link.

Tom Brady, Drew Brees and P Manning will be a part of any antitrust lawsuit and decertification will take place after 5pm if an extension is not presented. The must decertify under the current CBA in order to be under Judge Doty, meaning they can't let the CBA to expire.

It's all still up in the air...they have until 5pm to figure all this out! Crazy!!!

Understood.

Ok. Doty doesn't retire. He no longer holds jurisdiction once the current CBA expires, meaning the union must decertify prior to the expiration of the current CBA inorder to have Judge Doty, who has been involved in all NFL labor disputes for the last 30 years, to hear the case.

LOL and what is that? Wahhh you don't pay me enough? What are they really going to win? you can't hold the owners to the current pay salary because the CBA expired.

What it does is put hundreds of players in limbo as they can't move from team to team because that would be collusion.

Time to deal with reality, the billionaire owners are successful business men for a reason. They aren't afraid of the NFLPA, court, congress or anything. They know exactly what they are doing and the end result will be, the players have to come back to the table as a union (which they must have to get free agency etc) and take what the owners demand. This is a waste of time for everyone, the end result is the same = owners win

um... no it isn't. this would be a duplicate anti-trust case as the late 80s and 90s. players would definitely win IF they can hold out long enough for a ruling. Maybe some of this will help.

Let me break it down for you. The NFL can have a CBA which sets negotiating terms with a union (NFLPA). However, if there is no union (decertify) then the NFL cannot have rules regarding employment across the industry (salary cap, lockout, etc.). This is to prevent monopolies from dictating industries. basically each team would have to set out their own rules of hiring, like any business. if all the businesses in the industry (the supreme court ruled that the NFL is a monopoly 9-0. so yeah, they officially are all the businesses in the industry) agree to hire according to a set of rules then it is collusion. basically if there is no NFLPA then each team must hire their own employees seperately. meaning no cap etc.

the players WILL win this case if they make it to court. By winning the courts the players will force the teams to open their doors for football or fold. the supreme court and previous ruling hold that out. the owners know this. they will try to delay the ruling as long as possible so that the players have to re-form the NFLPA and come to an agreement. The owner's are inherently in the legal wrong as long as there is no NFLPA. You might ask why things are different in say the MLB. the MLB has been granted a special exemption by congress. the NFL applied for that same exemption last year as part of their preperation for a lockout, but was denied.

TV deals: The NFL clearly violated their good faith agreement with the NFLPA when they negotiated their deals. They knew it would be ruled that way. their appeals process is a sham. However, now the NFLPA has to sue for damages... that takes a very long time. so basically the NFL gets to hold onto the $4 billion hopefully long enough for the NFLPA to crack. The only way this doesn't happen is if the court puts down an injuction to hold the $4 billion which it might do. In short, the NFL took a calculated risk in violating the law and hope it pays off.

The owner's have been very calculating. They have to be though because they aren't in a position where they are slam dunk winners. So far, their power plays haven't been working. this is why they extended the dead line.

The Players Association plans to decertify its union by 4 p.m. Thursday absent a new agreement. At that point the owners would be expected to shut their doors and cease operations at 12:01 a.m. Friday -- in essence, locking out the players. Such a move would open the league up to antitrust lawsuits, which sources say players are prepared to file.

This was my understanding up until 30 minutes ago, but it sounds like the owners are holding on to an offer and waiting to release it right before the players walk out and head across the street to the court house to file for decertification. I think the owners are trying to stall the players union long enough to make them miss the opportunity to decertify before the CBA expires, which would cost them Doty. I'm sure the players union have already filled out the decertification paperwork and are waiting at the courthouse to file, but are just waiting to see the final offer from the owners.

You guys really think the owners are this stupid, wow. and YES I do believe the owners will close the doors and start over completely if need be.

And as for as injunctions It has been reported it is very, very rare for two injunctions to come down and the NFLPA got one already in the fact the owners have to put the 4 billion in escrow. Also there is no way the players can get rulings in time to not have the majority run out of money. It very well could be 90% of the players re certify as a union and leave manning and the 'Have's' out of it.

The owners know exactly what they are doing

I have a question, and it probably have been answered before. If all the owners wanted was another billion dollars on the revenue split, why not take that billion from the tv contract they were going to receive? (Which was worth 4 billion)
