How big a paycut would you take?

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Think you'd take a 2.25 million dollar pay cut?

Roger Goodell apparently would, and is, by his own decision.

NFL Commissioner Takes Pay Cut

Now, given that he's still making over nine million a year, I can't exactly weep for him. This is also the first I can recall seeing a specific figure attached to the commissioner's name (and that's quite a salary he's got there, wow) :sosp:

Still, in the age of CEOs taking raises and stock options while their companies go under and lay off thousands of "little people", this could be seen as refreshing.

So in your mind, is this a "good move" or a "so what"?

Go check out Selig if you wanna see an inflated salary...yeesh

Selig is a glorified owner's puppet who's probably done as much or more damage to the sport baseball than anyone in history. Any salary that he's paid over 50 cents is too much (and I'm being generous with the 50 cents).

But, love him or hate him, Roger Goodell is a legitimate power broker. What he says, goes.

I'm curious as to how people will see this story.

It is my favorite thing Goodell has EVER DONE as a commish. Nothing else is even close.

When management walks the walk, it's easier for employees to do the same. And it is a big thing in leadership too. Good for him (that may be the first last and only time I say that about anything he has done...lol).

More folks like him need to do the same.

I heard of a local health care CEO lay out program cuts and such. All about equal to HIS pay. ONE guy.

He can cut it down to 1 mil and still live a great life and keep others on the books.

This is where we are at now.

    • Especially with no other major sports in the area other than UNCW basketball and soccer. It's a good 2 1/2 hour drive just to catch a collegiate football game. If this new arena were built I would hope it also includes an Adult League - I would join up and time allowing would be more than happy to help coach some youth teams. 😄
    • That was real fear in his eyes when the rope was being taken. My younger days, I had my best friend that happened to be black come over all the time. I had the nicest bulldog on the planet, my friend Damon was scared to death of him. His grandmother and daddy taught him to fear all dawgs and seen the same fear in his face and voice.    I think alllll young kids should take swimming lessons and not fear the water. Very thankful my parents did this, I no longer get in the ocean since its 50% sewage. But I enjoyed all the lakes, pools, and oceans I swam in.
    • My personal opinion is the non-guaranteed contract is the main reason for NFL success. MLB and NBA players are on cruise control after their big contracts and it shows in the product.  NFL is each year you are fighting for your job. Same for the majority of the public.... You get lazy or try to coast after the 100+ million contract, your ass will be cut within 1-2 years. Then the next one will not even touch 100 million+. Besides a few NBA players like Kobe was coming for blood with a 300 million contract or 1 doll hair deal. Brandy Beal just reached a buyout where he was getting 110 million, many other cases..... I dare say his name for the hornets guy..... MLB sooo many times as well.    If the NFL starts fully guaranteeing all contracts, Id have a new hobby to fill the hours of entertainment NFL gave me.
