The hijinks of Smitty

BEHIND THE SCENES: Wide receiver Steve Smith was in a playful mood in the locker room on Thursday.

He wore a gray T-shirt that read “Jake the Snake” with a photo of a half-naked Delhomme wearing nothing but black underwear, what looked like one of those children’s animal towels that cover your head (in the shape of a Panther, of course) and a smile.

When asked if he plans to wear that shirt under his jersey on Monday night, Smith said, “No, I don’t like to get unfocused. That’s one what will throw you off.”

A few minutes later Smith snuck up behind backup quarterback Josh McCown at his locker and gave him -- how shall we politely put it -- a nipple twister, causing McCown to let out a loud scream that permeated throughout the locker room.

As Smith walked away giggling, McCown grabbed a piece of paper and wrote down the date, “Smith, 12-04-08,” he said. “Got it! I never forget!”

Well, you certainly can’t accuse the Panthers star receiver of being tight this week.

    • My take on Darnold was always that he was fine with a good offensive line but would wilt under pressure with a poor line (Jets and Panthers). Seattle began the year w/ a pretty bad oline and they improved somewhat but Darnold is showing he is a pretty good qb. Imagine what the Panthers would be today with Darnold and without Bryce Young and all the wasted draft picks to get him.
    • Similar situation but that would be a better version than what we currently have. Sam isn't a franchise QB but he is a good bridge guy. Either Seatle finds a young guy to groom or they have hit their ceiling. They 100% can't put it on Sam's shoulders and expect to win but the team needs to carry less with him at QB to win vs what this team has to do with Bryce.
    • to me the post would suggest Sam Darnold was good last night because Seattle won in a wild game.   Which is what we do with Bryce Young.   Sam Darnold didn't play well last night.  Which is how he trends, goes to a new team.....looks okay and becomes classic Sam Darnold down the stretch.  Last 6 or 7 weeks old bad Sam is coming out a lot (and then a weird Atlanta game mixed in lol).
