That's the season.....

need to get rid of jackson for anything, and get some value from Diaw. I feel like the Celtics could have used Diaw instead of Green.....man if we had gotten Perkins somehow I would have been ecstatic

We have to keep Jack, Not many people like to play in Charlotte and he loves it here. That and I doubt we could give him away at this point.

Can we remove Playoffs from the forum title now? It's like we're saying yay, we made the playoffs..............once.

Agreed, it's as if the Bobcats are given a lifetime little league trophy for making the playoffs and not winning a single game..

But will he like playing here if we are in a rebuilding mode. At times, I think that it might just be best for both parties to trade him. I guess it really depends on what we do in the off season.

Maybe we get a decent lottery pick.

Probably unlikely... Most likely at best we end up with the 9th worst record in the nba... that gives us something like a 1.7% chance for the #1 pick, 2% for the second, and 2.4% for the 3rd. And the 9 can easily turn into 11, but i think it's most likely we end up #10,

I feel like, since this draft is weak, the cats need to hit one homerun in the first round instead of two singles. Because picking at 10 and 20ish is probably going to net us a couple solid players..but not anyone outstanding (unless of course someone drops from their projected draft position or we move up because of the lottery). Here are some scenarios that I think CAN happen but would be tought to do.

A) Trade DJ packaged with both first round picks to Toronto or Minnesota in order to take Irving. I feel like, if for some reason, Irving were to slip by these two teams, he could fall all the way to 7 at Detroit. Because Cleveland as Sessions, Minnesota as Flynn and rights to Rubio, Sacramento has Evans, Utah has Harris (who they reportedly love), Washington has Wall which leaves only Toronto with a glaring need at PG.

B) Trade Diaw and both first round picks to Toronto so the Cats could be in position to take Barnes (assuming Irving goes No. 2 to Minnesota). This scenario could also involve DJ if Irving isn't off the board.

I know both are these are very UNLIKELY, but its fun to think about. Moving up using both our firsts could be enticing to a team with multiple holes. I feel that we have multiple holes but this draft is dangerously mediocre (IMO).

FWIW

This guy is intriguing, I have not seen Colorado play much but I checked his stats for his two years at Colorado and he seems to really be able to put the ball in the hoop.

NBA Comparison: Eddie Jones/Evan Turner

Strengths: Freshman with intriguing size/length and athleticism ... Late bloomer who displays a ton of promise ... Shows the prerequisite size and athleticism to play the shooting guard position at the NBA level ... An explosive leaper with excellent finishing ability ... A good scorer who shows the ability to effectively score in a variety of ways, extremely proficient for such a young player ... Very smooth in the open floor converting impressive dunks and ally oops with regularity ... Has a soft touch and deft body control allowing him to effectively convert drives to the rim ... Shows a quick first step and the speed to get by opponents off the dribble ... Has the makings of being an excellent outside shooter, getting great lift, a high release, fluid motion, plus he's a 78% ft shooter ... Solid vision and passing ability ... Despite a slight frame, shows aggressiveness attacking the rim. He'll likely be able to finish a lot better as he gains weight ... An excellent rebounder for a wing ... Coachable player who has made excellent strides in his short time at Colorado ... Appears to have a lot of room to add strength. Frame appears capable of adding 30 lbs or more ... Defensively he shows quick hands and feet, long arms, plus solid anticipation jumping passing lanes ... His one on one defensive ability will be enhanced by added strength, but he shows the makings of a strong defender with a willingness to improve ...

Weaknesses: At just 18 years of age, still lacks upper body strength, but that should come as his body develops. He's born in August of 1991 ... Needs to work on his outside shot. While he displays a solid shooting stroke, he still needs to gain consistency and range and become better at picking his spots and finding openings ... Takes ill-advised shots at times, should look to be a more disciplined about taking outside shots while covered ... Learning the nuances of moving without the ball, setting up opponents off of screens will come with experience ... A rhythm shooter who shows better ability to knock down shots off the dribble. Will need to work on his spot up shooting ability, which appears to be his biggest offensive weakness at this point ...

Notes: Went virtually unrecognized by recruiters despite being the 2009 Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Missouri ... In his Senior year he averaged 23.0 ppg, 6.8 rpg., 3.0 apg., 1.6 spg. ... Has quickly become a hidden gem for the Buffalos ...

I wouldn't mind him at all...but it may come down to him or terrance Jones..idk who i would want.

He is a Jeff Bzedelik coached player so he is going to do just fine in the NBA. Unfortunately, I think he has a fairly low ceiling.

This team needs to look at C and PG. Really I don't think the team will be able to upgrade the starters at any position, though it is certainly possible that a big could supplant Kwame. No rookie PG is going to unseat DJ unless it is someone like Kyrie Irving.

    • Nothing wrong with starting to look for bodies early. It's a long injury filled season. I doubt we get through unscathed.
    • We're in alignment regarding Thielen not being a game changer/breaker for the Panthers. Getting the ball into hands of playmakers like TMac and XL is going to open up things more than it is getting it to Thielen underneath (or letting him go after 50/50 balls 20yds downfield in his mid-30s). However, in a room where the other guys are two second year guys and two rookies, having a reliable vet that they can learn from is just as important as it is for the QB to have as a reliable third option. I can see that being worth $8.5M (just 3%) of the $279.2M cap... especially when looking at what's left out there: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/_/position/wr However, the idea that the team is forcing production to Thielen and leading to losses isn't supported by the data. Targets, not receiving yards, are how you can tell if a player is being "force fed." In the two games mentioned, let's look at the other players available... vs. TB 10 targets - Adam Thielen 9 targets - David Moore 8 targets - Tommy Tremble, Xavier Legette 3 targets - Jonathon Brooks 1 target - Dan Chisena, Feleipe Franks, Stephen Sullivan vs. PHI 11 targets - Adam Thielen 8 targets - Xavier Legette 5 targets - Chuba Hubbard, David Moore 2 targets - Tommy Tremble 1 target - Ja'Tavion Sanders, Deven Thompkins There isn't exactly a bounty of other names to throw the ball to. In those games, AT was one of the top 2 WRs. Diontae had been gone by that point.   So... yea. Agreed that Thielen isn't exactly carrying the team in his mid-30s, but it's undeniable that he was the most reliable target last season that still has quite a bit of value this season. Whether or not that value is reflected in a manner folks think on the contract is going to come down to personal taste. However, the idea that the team was forcing production to AT and that was the reason behind some losses couldn't be further from the truth.
    • I would also add that I think it's more than money.  AT has looked absolutely miserable out there at times, and there was a lot of speculation he would demand to be traded.  Personally, I thought he was a lock to be moved last year.  Maybe his hamstring is the only thing that prevents that from happening. The fact that he's not only willing to come back and play, but excited about it, really bodes well for Bryce.  AT is a veteran and he knows the game.  If he didn't have confidence in Bryce, I guarantee you he wouldn't be in a Panther uniform this year.  I'll take that as a positive.
