what, you mean vargo hoat?

he's not even on the show.

Locke fills the role of Vargo Hoat. Imo the way they merked him was fine. Iirc Vargo Hoat got captured and tortured to death by Tywin Lannister. Soon the TV show and book series are gonna really diverge anyway according to GRRM. The writers for the show already know how the book series ends. The destination is the same but the way the two are gonna get there might be really different.

I didn't mind the Locke character... IMHO they replaced Vargo Hoat with a less interesting character, but an interesting one nonetheless...

Basically, I saw the Jaime thing as a "sending a message to the Lannisters" type thing whereas the Theon thing was just cruelty and torture. Balon hasn't really proven to be a threat at all at this point... It IS odd how Roose Bolton and Co. flip flops so easily and has no repercussions at this point... I think sending Locke was more about saving face with the Lannisters over the Jaime thing and ridding himself of Locke's deed than it was of actually having any real hope of securing Bran and Rickon... It just happened that Locke actually got lucky and stumbled upon Bran by chance...

I see PSC's points though... This is probably the kind of thing GRRM has mentioned about the show changing things from the books having repercussions down the road... Could be that the entire point in sending Locke north, from the show's perspective, was to have some other way for Bran to get some screen time other than walking through a winter wonderland...

I had to go back and Wiki some of Dany's stuff... I think it was her absence in book 4 that threw me off as to how she ended book 3 (I thought she didn't make it into Mereen until ADWD.)

Also, one of the things I hinted about in my previous post (concerning someone in her immediate party) hasn't happened yet and I thought it happened before now in the books... Come to find out it should have kinda happened last night or very soon.

They are really going to have to pull a lot of stuff from thin air on a lot of these storylines to be able to move forward, tbqh... They are almost at a point where you'll be almost done with Dany's ADWD stuff by the end of this season. Bran is pretty much blazing through ADWD territory by the end of this season too. Arya seems to be close, as do Brienne, Pod, and maybe even Jon getting close.

I have a feeling if they keep it up, they are going to have to make up a lot as they go for season 5 or they are going to have to be heavily featuring some of the stuff we haven't seen yet... like the Greyjoys... I don't see how lots of people think that those characters can be cut... Will we see them, more Dornish folk, etc. for the majority of next season? I hope that doesn't turn a lot of people off of the show because they are so used to following the current featured cast...

I think that is why book 4 was a harder read for me than the rest... because we have these new people that we haven't heard much out of yet... plus the letdown of the Red Wedding...

I'm considering going back and rereading book 4 just to see if I can get a grasp of what they've got in their plans moving forward...

they cut coldhands for this bullshit bran storyline

see my recent post in the book thread...

It may be that CH is ultimately just a plot device himself...

Don't get me wrong, I want to see him on screen still just because he's cool...

I kinda like the creepy Jojen "sight" thing...

Nobody's said it yet that I've seen on the webz, so I will coin it here...

They replaced Coldhands with... ... ... ... ...  Firehand... lol...
