Some New York state bureaucrats believe beloved childrens’ games, such as Wiffle Ball, kickball, dodgeball and freeze tag, pose a “significant risk of injury.”

Many adults scoffed at the idea, saying they made it through childhood in one piece.

A man from Bensonhurst told 1010 WINS’ John Montone when he was a child everybody played Wiffle Ball. “It’s a harmless game, it’s a piece of plastic,” he said. “It’s not going to do that much damage.”

“We played everything. Nobody got hurt significantly at all,” another man said. “The people today are cry babies about everything.”

Following new state health department guidelines, both indoor and outdoor day camps will be inspected and then subject to state regulation. According to the rules, if a day program has at least one physical activity on the “risky list,” it will be deemed a summer camp and then regulated.

And the fat kids stay fat!

It's honestly a miracle that me and my friends survived childhood... demolition derbies on our bikes... playing with knives and machete's... WD-40 and lighters... and these people think that wiffle ball is dangerous???

How about kill the man with the ball? We always used to play that.

There is a bit more to it.

Adam Langbart, president of the New York Camp Directors Association, thinks indoor programs should be subjected to the same rules as outdoor ones.

Regulating Wiffle Ball And Kickball...

“There really shouldn’t be a difference. You’re operating a camp, you’re operating a camp, whether a camp is in a gymnasium or out in a field,” Langbart told WCBS 880′s Sean Adams.

Langbart says those who are protesting miss the point: “People are dissecting the law and dissecting the rules and regulations and basically taking things out of context. You gotta look at the big picture and not just say, ‘Oh. The state wants to regulate Wiffle Ball.’ They don’t.”

He says what the state is really concerned about is “that the camp is performing background checks, that the camp is screening their staff through the New York State sex offender registry, that the camp has a proper staff-to-child ratio – in not just counselors, but CPR and first aid.”

Some small indoor camps may need to increase costs since they would be required to hire a medical staff and pay a registry fee if they are designated as a summer camp.

Let's not forget everyone has to get a participation trophy when they do something too. When I was a kid, getting a trophy meant you were badass in something....nowadays every nose picker gets a trophy, no matter how bad they suck.

I hated that when I was coaching my kids teams... everybody is a winner... BS. How about we teach kids about real life instead of fantasy land?

yes...please...let's coddle the poo out of them some more!

children....get in your bubble and stay in there.

I don't think they are saying they can't play it just that the daycares need to be licensed differently so they meet the correct requirements like having school nurses etc.

    • summary: "let's talk about your draft, what did you think about Freeling" Dan:   guys with a huge upside, can come in and compete to start.  High ceiling "he does what for your offense?" Dan:   it's hard to find left tackles, guys that big and athletic.  We have Icky coming off an injury, we signed Walker, I believe your offensive line can never be too strong.  If we're going to win the game, it's gotta be up front on both sides of the ball, so we make a point of emphasis on making both sides of the front as strong as possible. "how many mocks did you see Monro falling to you." Not many times, left tackles are gonna go a lot earlier than when we took him.  We want to add the best player, in free agency or the draft"  that's our philosophy, to get the best players possible. "Hunter and Brazzell." Dan:  we followed the board.  Lee we felt very highly of him , super strong.  Brazzel so flexible and loose, can open the verticle.  Will Lee we held in high regard. "you take a look at your receiver room, Coker, my goodness, your offensive rookie of the year in Tet.  Lost Rico, but there is Jonathan Brooks. " Brooks coming off two knee injuries, he worked his way back, looking great, fully healthy, will help in pass and run game.  Icky, not sure when he's coming back but we're excited about both "plan on extending Bryce" we'll keep talking, will keep internally.  We believe in him, has such a great grasp of Canales and offense, has improved every year. "he's clearly come back from the benching, the arrow is trending up, where does he feel" Bryce knows where we stand with him, when and if a deal gets done, he knows we feel great with him, we'll get something done at the right time. "if this a prove it situation?" everyone in the building has to prove it, has to earn it. Tmac was everything we wanted, his work ethic, he's so big and talented, but he puts the work in, and is a great teammate. "your level of expectation, the building's level of expectation for 2026 "our goal is to win the division every year, we know we have to earn it.  we have to put the work in every day, proving it on the practice field, and our  guys know that." "schedule" we haven't opened at home in 2 or 3 years.  We love prime time games, hope we get some "
    • this one is gold:     Bryce has a cult inside the Panthers fanbase that has truly developed some NPC hivemind. I'll never understand how he's captured the true essence of the casual fan like that.
    • "everybody has to earn it, heading in the right direction, feel great about him, get it done at the right time"     Mother fuger
