As a non-baseball fan, I do not think this is a good idea at all. It gives off a Nazi Germany taking over Poland kind of vibe.

Basically this sets a precedence where the MLB is saying that we don't need owners and can run teams ourselves. The NBA has done the same thing.

Teams without owners should be sold or the organization should fold.

It's just a temporary deal until Selig/MLB can decide whether McCourt is capable of running the team. If he is not, the team will be sold to the highest bidder. MLB needs owners and will always have them. MLB did this in order to keep the team in operation and not mess up the schedule for this year (I'm sure there's more to it than that, but that's the excuse on the surface).
