Dream that woke me up this morning...

You mean like he wasn't willing to mentor Vick knowing that Vick might replace him?

Yea... vick was coming out of Jail and hadn;t played football in years... I don;t think the expectations were for Vick to replace Mcnabb when he signed. I believe the eagles planned to build him up so they could trade vick.

But if McNabb wasn't interested in being a mentor he could have just as easily ignored Vick or demanded a trade when they signed him... instead he encouraged the Eagles to give Vick a chance and welcomed him with open arms.

...and if McNabb didn't perceive Vick as a potential threat to his starting QB job, then he's a fool (which he isn't).

I believe Mcnabb wanted to look out for and mentor Vick... that's never what I said.

Honestly it was not even vick that really even replaced him... It was Kolb who they drafted to groom (Which Mcnabb was not thrilled about) that replaced him.... Vick then replaced Kolb when he could not hold on to the job...

I doubt very few Expected Vick to be playing at a level to where he would replace either of these QB's.... Just look back... Everyone was saying 2 years out of football is going to be extremely tough to come back from, he wasn't even great or consistent before leaving the NFL.

The thing is the perception in the locker room, from the fans, media when Vick signed was not oh boy... Vick is going to be the starter in Philly....

That is completely different than drafting a guy #1 and KNOWING he will be the guy at QB... the fans, owner media, everyone knows you are paying him that kind of $$$ to be a starter.... SO if you are mcnabb and want to play then you know that will not last long in Charlotte no matter what you do!!!

Also if Mcnabb wanted to be a mentor on the sideline he could have just stayed in Philly when he lost his job, But Andy knew he wanted to be a starter and out of respect for Mcnabb he traded him where he would want to go.... If he wanted to stay on the bench he could've told Shanny he is okay being on the bench in Washington and helping out Groosman, but like all QB's he wants to be the man and a starter.

If we draft Newton, we won't be paying another 4-6 million To bring in a "mentor/starter" for him. Shula will be that person. Clausen/Moore/cheap vet will compete to start with Cam given certain packages (ala The Golden Calf of Bristol).

If we don't draft Newton, the we will bring in THAT more expensive mentor/starter for Clausen.

I'm just saying, the guy has options and nothing about Charlotte sounds realistically appealing to me from Mcnabbs Point of view.

If a team like Arizona or Minnesota does not draft a qb I can go there, be the man and the only man, If the team wins were not going to be in position to draft a top QB next year, and I have some good pieces in place Peterson, Fitz, Rice, Harvin, ect.

Or go to a team that is rebuilding, with lots of young pieces, and who just spend a #1 draft pick on a QB and every bad play or bad game the media will be yelling for Cam... and I probably won’t even finish the season as the starter no matter what I do.

It seems very clear to me.... I know we are fans of our team, but we have to be objective.... I don't see anything we can offer Mcnabb to entice him to come, and I can potentially see things that other teams can offer him to sway him to sign with them.

I;m also sure he wants a chance to get back to the Superbowl, I don't think he's going to come to a 2-14 team for that, in this tough NFC South.

But whatever, if you don't want to be objectitive about the situation, go ahead and think what you want, just don't get your hopes up.

    • I truly do not understand why we rushed him back last season, we were a bad team with an already productive back in Chuba. Brooks looked like he was 60% back and clearly hadn’t regained full movement in his knee and confidence, no surprise he got reinjured. Shame on this training staff, look no further then Chuba returning too soon this season, I don’t care how bad a player wants to come back a training staff is there to protect them. Brooks is a great person and was an amazing player prior to both injuries, I hope he’s recovering well.
    • Brother thanks for sharing and all. Just for a 21 year army guy you sure over used your brain power on this interaction little too much...  Not that's Im taking a side or nothing, Ive never been a bully fan * in extreme deals bullying in needed..... I've heard from smart people in and around Panthers, Smitty needed Angie for guidance BADLY.  I've honestly thought if Smitty was born 20 years later, he should have taken a MMA path and not only would he have been a champion but a humbled good man with or without Angie helping him. He has never took off the enmoureous chip on his shoulder and it has branched off as a stick in arse over time too. Still everyone can not be or act the same with emotions, we are chemical sacks of water and bones. He reminds me of brain-washed individuals that can not turn off the switch. Plus he is high on thinking he's smarting than he is.......its a dangerous combo, but that's mainly what gave him the edge in life to live out the American dream......soooo I dare say change, but its sad at the same time. All those poor women that get involved with narcissistic disloyal men, one of the few times I agree to take what ever form them in court...
    • Completely agreed.  TBH, we have had so many great players that are in my favorite list, and I hate to narrow it down to one, but Cam is it.  Which is crazy, because you would think it would be more of the guys I grew up watching, but no.  Cam was the single most impactful player to ever out on a football uniform imo.  And like I said in an earlier post, I always felt a kinship with him in a lot of ways…  the way he was treated and judged for the off the field stuff in Florida and having to overcome all of that and fight show at back.  And although I am not a black man, I have always been welcomed by and accepted more by minorities, and thus, I know what it’s like to be judged by appearances rather than the content of your character and who you actually are.  I know what it’s like to be stereotyped and written off or mistreated for your mistakes.  I know what it’s like to be held to a different standard while your peers don’t have to meet that same standard.  So I always related to that.  And the way he came in and just electrified the whole franchise, man…  I still think about it often how much it sucks that because of how talented he was, our staff out so much on him and that ultimately cut his career short.  You’re right, there will never be another Cam…  I think Josh Allen is the closest thing we will see for a long time, but Allen is not the running threat Cam was.  Cam could run you over or around you.  That was THE absolute funnest time to watch our team ever.
