NBA Playoffs Rd 2: Los Angeles Lakers vs. Dallas Mavericks

Yeah, the Mav's are just a better more 'complete' team than the Lakers, I've never been a fan of the team (just more of a fan of Bryant) and I honestly don't know how in God's name they managed to do so well.

Well at least this year anyways. Lakers were exposed like a prostitute with blue waffle. In which they reacted as such.

Not classy Lake-show, not classy.

LA fans always use Gasol as a scape goat. Fact is though they weren't winning any championships before he got there (post shaq era). When he plays well they refuse to give him credit. They always call him soft because they are used to the bully and dirty basketball played in the NBA by guys like Shaq and LeBron. Gasol is a finesse player and if his shot isn't falling and he isn't getting touches then his stats will drop.

Even so his stats weren't that bad honestly. Especially taking into account he was defending the best player on either team in Dirk. They needed someone else to step up since he had a subpar series and no one did. Says more about the entire team than just him.

The Grizzlies are winning series without one of their best players even dressing (Rudy Gay). The Trailblazers beat the Mavericks twice without their big Greg Oden. NBA is a team sport. You're not going to get the averages of every player every night. People have to step up and no one did for LA.

The Mavs are WINNING w/out their #2 scorer Caron Butler and w/out their previously starting SG Roddy B. This Mavs team has finally found what works for plugging injuries and is finally playing on all cylinders and it's showing.

    • I'm less concerned about Young getting hurt while rushing, because like you said, he doesn't take a ton of risks when he scrambles.  I'm far more concerned that at his size, a crushing sack by a big DL might snap his body in half. But this topic is exactly why I'm not very high on Jayden Daniels long term outlook unless he drastically changes the way he plays.  He basically looked like RG3 pt 2 out there last year, he runs with reckless abandon and doesn't protect himself from hits very well.  If he keeps that up, he won't have a long career and/or he's going to miss significant chunks of time every season due to picking up injuries.
    • I think the "Top 10" classification is much more simple than people think, at least for me. Put every QB in the league into a re-draft of only QB's, does this player go in the Top 10 of that draft or not? If they do, they're a Top 10 QB, if they don't, they're not. And yes, things like age/contract would matter in a real QB draft, but in this instance things like that or future injury concern are thrown aside, essentially looking at it on a year to year type of thing as you're talking about a current Top 10 list.
    • Probably so but don't know if it's Smith or Nikishin getting the bump to a pairing though. They both skated on the fourth pair.
