Do smokers realize they smell like scheisse?

this. when I smoked I didn't realize it was as bad as when I smell it now. PLus now I smell it all over everyone else and wonder if it was ever that strong on me. I was the smoker who hated the habit though, never smoked inside, always blew smoke away from me since I hated the smell.

ew thats even worse. same with cigars. BLEH.

It's my opinion that not EVERY smoker smells like an ashtray. I've got a roommate similar to this; smokes but can't stand the smell of smoke on him. He has a jacket he wears over his regular clothes only to smoke in so it doesn't get on his regular clothes. He takes multiple showers a day as well. I think most of the reason is so that he can hide it from his family/friends. No one knows he smokes but the roommates and maybe a couple other people.

Anyways, I work part time at a grocery store and sometimes it makes me want to gag. Especially the ones who come in smelling like they've chain smoked Marlboro reds non-stop since 1985.

if you can keep it at a half pack or less a day then you likely aren't stinking up your surroundings. especially if you are out in the open when smoking and have good hygiene. most people were always surprised to find out that i smoked whenever they saw me out in the smoke area.

.

I was that way when I smoked also....I quit over 3 years ago and swore I would never go back. Picked the horrible habit back up a few months ago and now I hate the habit even more. I don't smoke around people, I don't smoke all day at work, but when it is just me outside I will light one up and always stand so the smoke blows away from me. Most people that know me don't know I started again.

There is however something nice about relaxing with a smoke once in awhile but I hate myself for picking it back up after what I went through to stop. I knew I was in trouble when the first thing I did one the morning after waking up was walk outside for a smoke. I need to and will quit, especially before my 6 year old catches me in the act.
