It sounds like it was staph, i had staph in my recent tat. initially i thought it was a pimple but it kept growing an the pain was unbearable, went to the ER they cut it open with a scalpal and drained it, put a medicated strip in the hole put me on pain killers and antibiotics, worse part was going back after 2 days they pulling the strip out took a wooden stick and packed more bandage in the hole without numbing it...i almost punched the dr. lol.

If it was staph you'll have a purple scar for awhile and it'll fade to skin color after 6 months. If you waited to get treated a huge hole woulda been rotting out your leg, theres pics online just cant post links from ps3 browser.
